Maia is going to Vietnam.
A year ago, I gave my daughter Maia a one dollar bill for her "flight to Vietnam" fund. 30,000 cookies later, her piggy bank is now full and it's time to make her wish come true.
Maia and I are flying to Vietnam on July 22.
As I have learned, a 4 years old does not live in the future. So, last night, at 10 p.m., Maia packed her mini suitcase full of dresses and stuffies.
"I'm ready," she said. "Now, it's your turn."
"It's late, Maia," I said. "Plus, daddy doesn't have too many clothes. I will have nothing to wear if I pack now. We still have time."
"Okay," she replied disapprovingly.
But, what does our travel mean to Cookie Paradise?
It means our business will go into semi-hibernation from July 22 to August 13. During this time, my wife will continue to sell cookies at the Columbus Farmers Market every Saturday. But, besides that, our operations will be scaled back significantly.
Our page will become a part Vietnam travel blog.
Until then, it's business as usual.
If Maia is lucky, we will generate enough cookie sales so that she can buy a few toys in Vietnam and take her favorite cousin out for ice cream.
I will miss you.
Please stock up your favorite cookies before then!
