Pop-up alert! The Tuesday before the start of lent is celebrated in many ways around the world from pancakes, cream filled buns, king cakes and other sweet doughy confections but where Meghan grew up in the Windsor/ Detroit area we celebrated the Polish way with a fried donut called a paçzki. We will be celebrating paçzki day tomorrow, Tuesday Feb 17 at the bakery. Donuts will be available starting at 10am. We will be doing 4-5 varieties of donut, coffee and tea. No bread. No other pastries. Come eat a donut and hangout on a Tuesday.

Heads up, we have decided to extend our reduced hours for the remainder of winter. We will be closed Thursdays until late March. We will be open every Friday to Sunday. A lot of hours of work happens behind the scenes here and to be open four days generally translates to a six or seven :)) day work week. This break gives us real weekends and the energy to get through the busy season. Thank you for understanding 🤝

Our annual raffle for the Salt Spring Food Bank is on now. Swing by the bakery Thursday or Friday to enter to win free bread for a year. We will draw the winner Friday evening after the Winter Wander event. For every $500 raised we will draw another winner. Tickets are $5 each and winners are entitled to one loaf of bread per week for all of 2026. All proceeds of the raffle will be donated to our local food bank. The bakery will have extended hours Friday as part of the Ganges Winter Wander.

The event is not-for-profit; all funds will go to covering food and event costs and the time and investment from the chefs. We acknowledge that this event will take place on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish people.

5% of ticket sales will be donated to a Quw’utsun led land restoration & cultural sharing organization and a Palestinian led mutual aid organization providing food, shelter & medicine to families in Gaza.

This event is fully inspired by the amazing ❤️ we will have some cool merch from them available for purchase! Farmers will also bring extra radicchio and other winter vegetables for you to stock up on, so the festival will serve as a mini farmers market as well.

Victoria people! We will be at Cafe today at 12. We just baked 150 bagels and they are putting together nice toppings. Come get a tartine, some bread and maybe a cookie. Look forward to seeing you there! Btw we are still open at our shop on Salt Spring ❤️
