Important Market Update! 🥨

We’re so sorry, but we won’t be able to make it to the Gorge Market today. Unfortunately, both of us have caught a bug—and not the fun, summer-outdoor kind! We might need to run to Canadian Tire for a can of bug spray to clear these ones out before we're back in the kitchen. 🦠😷

This is definitely one of the biggest drawbacks of running a tiny local bakery: when the two of us go down, there's no backup crew to step in and sling fresh Bretzels for you!

We sincerely ask for your understanding while we rest up, recharge, and get back to 100%. We can’t wait to see you all next week for the Labor Day market!

Warning: Excessive Plum Perfection Ahead!

We went to Mars. No, seriously—we visited the lovely folks at the Mars farm to hand-pick organic plums, and we’re convinced their trees are powered by magic. We have never seen trees so loaded with flawless fruit. Not a single bad plum in sight, and even the legendary Irma Mars herself jumped in to help us harvest! These things are absolutely huge, ridiculously sweet, and basically the size of small planets. 🪐

Naturally, we turned this legendary harvest into our signature Organic Plum Cake! 🎂✨

We’ll be set up at today’s Sidney Street Market, but here’s the fair warning: these bad boys are going to fly off the table faster than a rocket ship.

Get there early, grab a slice (or three), and taste what happens when amazing local people and outrageously good fruit come together. See you there! 👇

🚨 Gorge Market Update: The Van is Sick! 🚐💔

We will see you at the Gorge Market in Esquimalt this Monday, but with a twist! Our trusty Bretzel Van caught a bug and is currently at the doctor getting a checkup. 🩺

Because our main Market member is sidelined, our menu this Monday is strictly limited to Bretzels. 🥨They are just as fresh and delicious as always!

Almost packed and ready

🚨 The August 6 Vendor Layout Has Landed! 🚨

Okay... we're a little late. 😅

Please forgive us! Our team has been a little busy helping bring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Spectacular to Dallas Road yesterday! Kelly, our incredible Market Director, also served as the Event Lead for the entire production (she is the Executive Director of The Greater Victoria Festival Society who organized this event) , so between coordinating an air show and preparing a market with more than 150 vendors... well... something had to give! ✈️💙

The good news? Tomorrow's Sidney Street Market is packed with amazing local makers, bakers, growers, artisans, musicians, entertainers, community groups and incredible food vendors, and we can't wait to welcome you back to Beacon Avenue.

**Everything happens for a reason.** 🍞

What a day!

Another wonderful day at the Peninsula Country Market. Mother Nature certainly challenged us today with rain, wind... and then she smiled. Thank you, Mother Nature. ❤️

As we always say, **after the market is before the market.**

One of our customers couldn't make it to the market to pick up their order, so I decided to bake it after we got home.

That's when it happened.

I grabbed the wrong whole wheat recipe... and then the wrong seed mix.

There was no turning back.

A few hours later, we sliced the loaf.

We looked at each other and smiled.

It was the best whole wheat bread we've ever baked.

Today is also **Swiss National Day**, and the seed mix I accidentally used was originally created for one of our Swiss breads.

Coincidence?

Maybe.

But here's what today reminded me:

**When life doesn't go according to plan, don't fight it. Don't overthink it. Embrace it. Sometimes the best things happen when you stop trying to control every outcome.**

A heartfelt **THANK YOU** to all the wonderful volunteers and fellow vendors at yesterday's **Sidney Street Market**! ❤️🥨

We arrived much later than we had planned, and for a moment we weren't sure we'd be ready in time. Then something amazing happened—so many of you stepped in to help us unload, set up our booth, and get everything ready.

Thanks to your kindness and teamwork, we were able to get our **freshly baked Bretzels, breads, and pastries** onto the tables and share them with everyone who stopped by.

Moments like these remind us that the Sidney Street Market is so much more than a market—it's a community of people who genuinely care about one another.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for lending a hand, supporting a small family bakery, and making yesterday such a memorable day.

We can't wait to see everyone again next week! 🥨❤️

🥨💧 Sidney Street Market, this one really hurts…

We baked, packed and were ready to head your way—but the heavy rain and damp air here in James Bay have already made our Bretzels soft and smushy.

A proper Bretzel should have a beautiful crust and that unmistakable chewy bite. What we have right now is simply not the quality we are proud to put into your hands.

So, with heavy hearts, we’ve decided not to attend tonight’s Sidney Street Market.

Missing a market evening is painful for a tiny bakery—but selling you something that doesn’t meet our standards would hurt even more.

We’ll miss you tonight. Please stay warm and dry, and save your Bretzel hunger for the good, proud and properly twisted ones! 🥨☔
