Erster Weihnachtstag thoughts from the Bretzel family 💛
Phew… we made it 😅
Somewhere between sleep-walking and full-on baking zombies, running on 18–24 hour days and 2–4 hours of sleep leading up to Christmas.
Flour everywhere. Tired feet. Happy hearts.
The pre-orders at the markets completely surprised us — thank you for trusting us like that.
We truly did not expect this outcome, and hearing “this was the best Christmas baking we ever had” is still sinking in.
It’s overwhelming in the very best way 🤍
On this first day of Christmas, we just want to pause and say THANK YOU.
To our customers, friends, believers, mentors, supporters, encouragers — and yes, our honest critics 😉 — this year would not have been what it was without you.
We learned a lot in 2025.
We made mistakes.
We tried new things.
Some worked. Some didn’t.
One thing we experimented with this year was a Bretzel breakfast service.
What we learned: breakfast works best when there’s a physical bakery — a place where all items are available, fresh, every day.
We tried to meet as many wishes as possible, but without baking the full range daily, it simply wasn’t possible to fulfill every request.
That insight helped us understand what needs to be in place before certain ideas can truly shine.
But the most valuable part of this year?
👉 Your honest feedback
👉 Your opinions
👉 Your constructive criticism — taken to heart, not to ego
Because of you, we want to be better next year.
Better baking.
Better planning.
Better listening.
And who knows… maybe 2026 will be the year we take the next step 🤍
A small bakery.
Right here on this fantastic peninsula in Greater Victoria.
So here’s where you come in 👀
If you know a good location…
If you know somebody who knows somebody…
We’re dreaming of something around 1,000 sq ft with a lease under $2,000.
Never say never — and yes, you might ask why so “modest”?
Plain and simple: the higher the lease, the more expensive the products.
We dream of selling honest, artisan buns again — the kind you could buy for 45¢, like 25 years ago.
Good bread should be for everyday life, not just special occasions.
And now… a little Christmas magic 🎅
Santa actually heard our prayers — the oven is finally off, and we get to sleep for the next two days 😴
After that? We’ll happily fire it up again and keep going.
For now:
🎄 Merry Christmas (still!)
✨ A happy, healthy New Year
🤍 And thank you for letting us grow — together with you
Stay tuned.
Stay kind.
And let’s keep kneading this dream together.
