I’m sharing again as Taryn has a raw and beautiful update on the GoFundMe page. We are now taking donations here at Barb’s or if you’d like to leave a handwritten note or card we’ll make sure they get them ❤️🩹
Our beloved Hancock family — Allan, Taryn, and Sage — were in a very serious car accident on August 2nd. What was meant to be a joyful weekend with extended family at Lake Cowichan turned tragic when the unimaginable happened: they were hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle.
Taryn has been part of the Barb’s family for nearly 10 years, and we love her dearly. She is an integral part of our team, and she and her family have stood by us through so many of life’s big moments. We can’t imagine our lives without them.
Sage has been in our lives since she was in elementary school. She started her very first job here at Barb’s three years ago, and after recently graduating from GISS, she was excited to work, travel, and plan for her future. Now, those plans are on hold.
Allan, Taryn’s husband, sustained the most serious injuries, taking the direct impact in the collision. He is one of the most selfless people we know — truly a hero in the eyes of everyone who knows him. Allan is also a one-of-a-kind wildlife artist, but with a long recovery ahead, painting is something he won’t be able to return to for quite some time. You can visit his Instagram to see more about his incredible work.
In the meantime, this family could use a touch of Salt Spring magic to help them navigate the months ahead.
All money raised will go towards living expenses while they wait for ICBC. They’ve suffered enough — they shouldn’t have to worry about covering daily needs while waiting to be reimbursed.
Dear family, friends and community. We are saddened to share that Allan, Taryn and their… Petra Hazenboom needs your support for Help the Hancocks Heal
