“Mhmm I’d say she’s a 6, maybe a 7.”
Two grown women “Hehe, 6-7.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ What do we love at births? Kicking prodromal labor into gear (Psoas release again!!!), unused NRP equipment, a mom’s first water birth after 4 babies (and immediately her saying she’s doing the next one in water), and no hemorrhaging!! Thankful 🥹

Spinning babies to the rescue! This should not just be done to force baby out, your body and your baby need to be ready to be born for this to “work”. You should also run all of this (including the homeopathy and master gland) by your midwife or doctor! In the case of this most recent birth we had mom and baby were ready and this is what helped to tip her body over the edge to have her baby.

I love !! Prodromal labor on and off for weeks, baby high and having trouble engaging, lift and tucks and pumping wasnt cutting it. Psoas release and then side lying release really seemed to do the trick because baby was born 3.5 hours after that. Mom was from 3-10 cm in about 4 hours. Had a great time with assisting and Anita supervising midwife while I was primary. Baby 9 lbs 15 oz!

There is a spectrum in all fields, I think the spectrum in midwifery is not fully understood even by those who name call and try to dissect where they land. What’s your definition of a midwife vs a med wife? (No wrong answers!)

Happy international day of the midwife from this student midwife! Today I finished my last assist births. It feels very fitting to catch a baby today! Now onto primaries and COC’s (continuity of care clients).

Made for someone who lost their baby recently, around 7 weeks. She immediately started to downplay it, saying at least it wasn’t further along. While I understand what she meant, and there is less time to bond with the baby growing, it’s still your baby, and you can grieve however you need to. As a birth worker, I will never downplay your grief. Even if you’re told you need to be grateful for the children you already have, or be grateful you weren’t further along. However far along you were, it’s okay to grieve, no matter what.
