Three years ago, we lit a small flame, not knowing just how brightly it would burn.

What started as a little market bakery in Hanover has grown into a full-blown coffee shop and bakery in New Freedom and honestly, sometimes I still can’t believe it.

I remember asking my mom if she thought I could actually sell $400 worth of cookies a month, just enough to pay my rent. She laughed and said, “Probably.” 😂

Three years later, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who believed in me, encouraged me, showed up, and reminded me to keep going, even on the days when it felt like maybe it wasn’t worth it.

Coffee and baked goods are hard. It’s not something you get into to get rich. It’s something you do because you love it. Because you love creating something that makes people happy. Because you love becoming a small part of someone’s day, their routine, their celebrations, their lives.

For me, it’s a love language. And I’m so incredibly grateful that I get to love you all this way. Thank you for letting me keep the flame burning.

Our sweet Claire is moving to Philly, and her last day with us is this Thursday 😭 come out and say goodbye before she leaves!

Claire has been such an incredible part of our team over the past year and has played an instrumental role in helping build Departure into what it is today. We’re going to miss her so much, but we’re also so excited to see where this next adventure takes her.
