I am a lover of the greatest decade known to man, the 1980’s. In my totally rad universe, Molly Ringwald reigns supreme and Freddy Krueger is King. It’s a land of Goonies filled adventures set to the soundtrack of Phil Collins. I am one of the biggest nerds you’ll ever meet. I love cartoons, photography, drawing, painting, old-school Nintendo, am a horror film ju**ie, can eat my weight in pizza, and will never turn the channel when a Patrick Swayze flick is on. What started out as a hobby to make my kiddos cool, custom cakes with personality has now become my life’s work. The things I love mold who I am and are illustrated in every piece of edible art that walks out of Hive Bakery's door. With over 13 years of experience in pastry and cake design, each work of art just keeps getting better!
The inspiration for the bakery’s name came from my undying love of Mother Nature’s most spectacular gift, bees. I have been photographing these tiny, flying teddy bears for several years, getting closer and closer with each click. It’s a fantastic sight to see when bees hover and begin their most necessary job, pollination. Without bees, the berries that line my tarts, wouldn’t exist. There would be no honey to sweeten Hive Bakery's cream cheese icing, and no apples to create those fresh from scratch pies. We owe a huge debt to these fantastic little workers who have created this delicious world we live in.
All of Hive Bakery's cakes are crafted with a pinch of creative love and a dash of artistic care. I spend a lot of quality time sculpting, painting, frosting, pinching, tweaking, cutting, rolling, baking, and stacking these edible pieces of art to make them perfect for your big celebration. I can make anything under the sun and am not afraid of requests that are out of the ordinary. Like Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice says, “I myself am strange and unusual.” We make everything from scratch using the best quality ingredients and local when possible. It’s my mission at Hive Bakery to give you the most gorgeous cake both inside and out. We want our cakes to taste as good as they look!
