They say humans need oxygen, water, and food to survive…

I’d like to formally amend that.

Sourdough is absolutely a basic human need.
Checking the dough every 7 minutes? Also necessary.
Staring at the crumb like it’s a work of art? Non-negotiable.

Fiona: I’m pretty sure #3 is medically necessary

If you’re new here, let me introduce you to my girl, Fiona. 🫶🏻🍞

Fiona is my sourdough starter… which means she lives in a jar, eats flour, demands attention, and somehow has more personality than most people I know.

She’s moody. She’s needy. She’s unpredictable. She occasionally explodes all over my counter. And yet… I keep feeding her.

Basically, I’m in a toxic relationship with a jar of fermented flour.

But she’s also the reason this whole sourdough adventure started. She’s been fed, neglected, revived, transported, given a fancy house, and somehow turned into the star of the show.

She’s my girl.
She runs the place.
I just work here.

Welcome to Fiona’s little corner of the internet.

Hi. It’s Fiona. 🎃

I would like to formally announce that I am ready for pumpkin season.

Mom says it’s August and “way too soon.”

I say… look at me. I’m literally a pumpkin. 😂

So we made pumpkin bread shaped like a pumpkin because apparently I have influence around here.

Anyway, I’ll be over here pretending it’s fall while everyone else is still sweating.

Too soon? Or are we team PUMPKIN?

Sometimes the biggest risk is simply wondering, “What if I had?” 🤍

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately because starting to share the bread Fiona and I make felt like a pretty big leap. What started as something I loved doing in my kitchen slowly became something I was brave enough to put out into the world.

And honestly? I’m so glad I did.

Because what if it works out?
What if the thing you’re nervous to try becomes the thing that brings you the most joy?

You’ll never know unless you take the chance.

So, do it.
Start before you feel ready.
Share the thing.
Take the leap.

You might just look back and realize it was one of the best decisions you ever made. 🥖🤍

What I do for fun?

Grating butter into sourdough.
Frosting cinnamon rolls.
Slicing a fresh loaf.
Staring at sourdough crumb like it’s a work of art.

Some people have hobbies.
I have a very specific kind of obsession.

08/21/2026

There is a very specific kind of madness that comes with making sourdough…

You bake the bread.
You admire the bread.
You cut the bread.
And then you spend 20 minutes moving it 3 inches to the left because the lighting is “almost right.”

Meanwhile, Fiona is like, “Can we please eat this before you take another picture?”

Sometimes life doesn’t have to be loud to be good. Sometimes it’s just quiet mornings, little moments, good bread, and realizing… this is enough.

Fiona says: “Enjoy it while it lasts. I’m about to need feeding.” 😂🍞

I was told we were going to visit my human’s college roommates.

I assumed there would be snacks.

I did NOT realize I’d be expected to travel by airplane, attend cocktail hour, supervise poolside activities, AND teach a sourdough class.

I flew in.
I made the rounds.
I supervised the cocktails.
I inspected the pool.
And most importantly… I taught them The Fiona Way™.

Honestly, I’m exhausted.

Being this important is a lot of work.

Fiona says: “Next reunion, I’m requesting first class.”

08/17/2026

Yearly reunion with my college roommates, so obviously I introduced them to Fiona.

We used to stay up late making questionable decisions.

Now we’re standing around talking about starter, fermentation, and whether Fiona looks hungry.

Honestly, she’s the roommate nobody asked for… but somehow she’s still running the house.

Maybe all you need is this.

Just a warm cinnamon roll covered in cream cheese frosting...

Or as my daughter calls it, “delicious sauce.” 😂 Honestly, she’s not wrong.

Fiona: “Call it whatever you want. Just don’t skip the delicious sauce.” 🤍✨
