4-layer Strawberry Cake🍰🍓, April 2026
The strawberry older sister of the previous layered cake I posted! Proud of this one as well❤️ Especially since I decided to make 4 LAYERS with the extra cake I had🤭.
I tried to apply whatever I lacked/missed when making the vanilla version, and for the most part, I definitely improved. Of course the sides are still not super smooth, (still need to buy a turn table😔), but it does look much better! I also did thicker frosting layers between cakes to see how much I preferred.
Only con, is that I tried something different with my buttercream. Instead of doing my usual recipe, I wanted to try using heavy whipping cream in it this time. Although it didn’t change much, it did make it a bit harder to pipe borders around the cake as the whipping cream made my buttercream looser. It also requires the cake to be refrigerated. Safe to say, I will likely NOT be doing that again😂. In addition, because it was 4 layers instead of 3, on top of thicker frosting layers, I STILL ran out of buttercream🤦🏽♀️. Also, I promise my borders look better than this🙏🏽.
My purpose for writing these captions and posting more, is to not only give you an opportunity to see my work, but it is also my “photo baking diary”. It’s my art in progress. It’s my practice. So, here’s what I learned with this cake:
1. Ditch the heavy whipping cream
2. GOT to get a turn table
3. Make MORE frosting
4. Buy fresher strawberries (wasn’t too concerned with the strawberries with this cake because it was only for home, and I ended up taking them off to prevent spoilage)
Now, I personally like it without the middle border, but I did a poll, and some of you like it WITH the middle border. (Again, I PROMISE I can pipe borders better than that). Feel free to tell me which one you like more💕
I’m almost done catching you all up on my recent projects! Menu dropping next😚, and thank you again❤️.
