For cake collections, our staff will open the cake box to show customers their cakes. This is done without exception, regardless of whether the cake is collected by the customer or their nominated collecting party.
The reason is simple: we want to make sure that every cake leaving our store is in the good condition it is supposed to be. While we can ensure that cakes leave our store in good condition, we cannot guarantee the same once they have left our store.
We have had situations (especially with cakes collected by 3rd parties) where cakes arrived at their destination in less-than-perfect condition. And when that happens, it can quickly become a โWe say, You sayโ situation - one that we very much prefer to avoid.

And for customers who, for whatever reason, decide not to check their cakes despite our insistence (for example, being more worried about getting a summons from the parking police ๐
), please understand that we cannot be responsible for the condition of the cake when you eventually decide to open the box.
We know everyone is in a hurry to get on with their day. But taking that extra minute to check your cake before leaving can save everyone a whole lot of headache later.
