Revisiting my childhood again 💭..

It is funny how, often times, we get so swept up by life and our so called 'duties' that we almost forget about all the little things we enjoyed as children.. we push our true interests and passions aside because there are always more 'important' things to do, and yet these interests and passions are usually what bring us the most joy, which is surely the most important thing of all..

For me it was mostly drawing, writing stories, making pretty things, and anything that involved bears hehe 🐻

I am learning to trust my inner voice again and act on all the little intuitive hunches I receive, following my heart and going with what inspires me the most, even if it seems pointless and silly..

I fuel my creativity into my work, but have always sensed there is so much more yet to be unveiled

Whatever the weather, it is better with you 🐻❤️

I thought this would be a nice one to share today after yesterday's thunderstorm (which was super awesome) ⛈️

I don't particularly like the hot summer weather, which perhaps makes me a little strange, but I am learning to embrace all seasons, and also be okay with my strangeness hehehe 🙂

Love your body, or don't.. either way, it doesn't really matter, but please do not waste your life worrying about it, or what it looks like, or what other people think, and so on..

There are very few people who love their body 100% of the time, and those who do have more so come to a place of acceptance, where they have chosen to love their body regardless of appearances. Now, this is a wonderful place to reach, and you will surely reap the benefits, but it is not the top state.

Even better than that, is to go beyond the body. What I mean by this, is to understand that it is not who you truly are.. it never has been, it never will be. It is simply a physical vehicle carrying you through this earthly human life.

Do not fall into the trap of believing the socially accepted ideas (which are completely erroneous), in that you have to look a certain way to be beautiful or attractive. True beauty, has nothing to do with physical appearances. Nothing.

So yes, respect your body, cherish it, revel in the marvelous things it can do, but also see it for what it is, and do not attach yourself to something that was never truly yours in the first place ❤️

So, I have been holding this back for long enough, but I am finally ready to share with you my new characters..

They have been quite a while in the making.. if you want to talk in terms of time, nearly 3 years, although in truth it has been far longer.. I knew what I wanted to create way before I put pencil to paper, and hundreds of drawings later, I eventually came up with something I was quite happy with ✏️

So here they are! You may find them somewhat recognisable..

I didn't particularly want to name the characters at first, but, I would be lying if I didn't say they weren't based on myself, and my teddy bear, Tom Ted 🐻

I also wanted the girl to be somebody that people could relate to. She represents the human part of ourself, whereas Tom Ted is that ever-present one within, always there, always quietly observing.

I have held these characters very close to my heart and I didn't think that anyone would quite understand them in the way that I do, but I have also come to learn that it doesn't matter. You can take what meaning you want from the drawings and enjoy them as they are.. or not, hehe 🙃

A few random doodlings and writings from one of my childhood notebooks I kept..

My particular favourite being 'I love the weekends becase you can do what you want thats why I love them.' haha 😄

I was the 'good girl' type at school but even so, I much preferred being at home and doing my own thing 🖍️ 🎨 💫

My teddy bear Tom Ted also features a lot (of course) 🐻💕
