We’re keeping it fresh this week with our doughnut flavours - a very special grapefruit and fresh mint syllabub doughnut is joined by my all time favourite ring doughnut, the ‘Earl Grey’ glaze (which just tastes like tea and biscuits).

We’ve also got white chocolate & hazelnut, raspberry jam, cinnamon sugar ring as well as, of course our famous cinnamon buns.

All to be washed down with an iced dirty chai? I think so.

BYE KYLA 🙋‍♂️

This weekend we are saying farewell to our Canadian superstar supervisor, Kyla! Kyla joined us on the brink of our expansion with and quickly became a hugely important cog in keeping our original cafe ticking over as we focused on the new.

Efficient, organised and friendly, she’s made the FOH side of The Bearded Baker her own - so much so that when I’m working out front people are asking where Kyla is, rather than hairy old me 😂

She’s put her own stamp on how the cafe runs and we’ll continue to do so as she intends. That’ll be her legacy here even after she heads south for a new chapter in Northumberland.

I’m sure all you BB regulars will miss her as much as we will, so make sure to pop down over the weekend and see her off.

Summer Temp Staff!!

Need some extra cash this summer?
We are looking for a grafter to help us through the summer months. This role would be to start at the beginning of June and end at the end of September.
2 days a week Front of House on Saturdays and Sundays at Seventy One Steps.
Real living wage + tips, lunch and coffee provided on shift, bakes to take home, a fun team in a busy environment.
We are a small team so we need reliable people who can get the work done while still having a good time.

It’s nice to be back behind the ol’ counter!

If you’ve been in recently during the week you’ll have seen my hairy face greeting you and making your coffees and trying not to drop your bagels as I bag them up 😂. It’s been very nice seeing regulars again that have been coming in for near enough a decade and getting to know a whole host of new regulars who I’ve missed since we moved bakery operations away from this space.

You’ll be seeing plenty more of me in the coming months!

We’re feeling the spring vibes with our doughnut flavours this week, even though the weather isn’t playing ball!

This week we have mango custard, lemongrass ganache and mint choc chip doughnuts as well as our usual raspberry jam, cinnamon sugar ring and our sourdough cinnamon buns.

Focaccias this week are rosemary & sea salt as well as asparagus & garlic.

Bagels and sourdough bread aplenty too.

Another week, another set of flavours! We’re feeling the spring vibes even though the weather isn’t playing ball. We have mango custard, mint choc chip and lemongrass ganache doughnuts on the go all week along with our usual raspberry jam, cinnamon sugar and of course our sourdough cinnamon buns.

As well as great coffee and bakes we’ve got a crackin’ bit of stock on our retail shelves these days. Local artists and .design occupy one shelf and our suppliers and .coffee have their goods on another. There’s also issues of and Scotland edition.

What more could you need?! Well, how about our own merch? Branded tea towels and t shirts are available!

We’ve got great doughnut flavours this week and they’ve been super popular! We’ve got rhubarb compote, Nutella custard & raspberry jam filling our classic doughnuts. As well as a big ol’ blueberry cheesecake special along with my personal favourite, white chocolate & pistachio.

Cinnamon buns and cinnamon rings also, as always, on offer.
