On the menu this week at Battered Bliss by Jayne are:
-Apple and cherry puff pastry tarts
-Brownie Swiss Rolls with my peanut butter cookie cream (a small version of my full-size brownie rolls)
-Sweet-n-Salty Toffee Pretzels
-Frozen cheesecake push-ups in several flavors
-Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies w chocolate ganache filling
- Brownie Mixes (reg and gluten free… all available by pre-order only)
- Pre-orders are being taken for this weekend pickups.

As always, MAV’s FAVs are available pick up anytime on the porch. I accept Venmo, cash app, Apple Pay, and there is an honor box for any cash payments.

Wow! So I’ve had a few days away from the grid somewhat. Since Wednesday at 3 pm, I produced:
-10 dozen brownie bites with assorted icing,
-2 dozen peanut butter cookie/brownie truffles,
-1 dozen brownie/oreo truffles with chocolate grad caps and googly eyes
-10 dozen cheesecake bites in four flavors,
-10 dozen puff pastry tarts in three flavors,
-80 double dipped chocolate and toffee pretzels with hand folded wrappers, and finished it off with
—A 8” triple layer marble graduation cake complete with a brownie cap and mortar board and a Swiss roll diploma. I finished yesterday around noon and I have finally found my kitchen again…..and another batch of MAV’s FAVs Peanut Butter-banana treats is in the dehydrator. WHOOSH!!!! That was FUN!!

Now….. what would you like for next weekend? Maybe some apple/caramel tarts, a few toffee pretzels,  some of my peanut butter cookie/brownie truffles? Let me know. I have recovered and I’m ready for round two. And yes, there is a supply of MAV’s FAVs on the porch and frozen cheesecake push-ups in the freezer.

I will be off the grid for a day or two while I fulfill three large orders. There are frozen cheesecake push-ups in the little freezer in the fridge on the porch, and of course MAV’s FAVs dog treats are available on the porch as well. IF (BIG if) I am able, I will restock some items this weekend, but I’m not optimistic. I appreciate everybody’s patience. I will still take orders for future pick ups.

There are a few things in the fridge like the handmade chocolate bars and some gluten-free items.

I am located at 859 Kinsey St in Valpo. There are Venmo, Cash App and Apple Cash codes on the cabinet and an honor box for cash on the post. Feel free to wave at me on camera. If I’m not up to my elbows in cheesecake, I’ll probably step out on the porch, I do enjoy meeting everybody.

Life is strange and the world is small. After a very busy weekend when we re-introduced MAV’s FAVs dog treats, I got a very interesting message from a new follower. Mavis, the inspiration for the line of plant-based dog treats, is a rescue dog. When my ex and I picked her up from Porter County animal shelter, her name was Mavis. There was an argument on the way home that he wanted to change her name. I told him that her name was perfect. The only Mavis I had ever heard of was Mavis Staples, a blue singer from way back in the day. Needless to say, I won the argument.

So back to the message from last night, it was from the woman that named Mavis. While working at the animal shelter, she had named the dumped stray after Mavis Staples, the activist. The same Mavis Staples that I knew as a blue singer that had broke the color barrier after performing in an all-white venue.

Mavis was meant to be my dog. She was meant to inspire me to make these treats for your dogs. It seems she’s still an activist…. And if you’ve heard her howling from inside the house while you’re buying her treats in the yard, she apparently is still singing the blues.

Milk chocolate ganache ripple cheesecake is the new flavor push-up! They’ll be available in the porch freezer in just about an hour to satisfy your cheesecake/ice cream cravings for $5.

Price roll back for MAV’s FAVs to $8 per bag or three for $21. After reviewing my numbers last night, I came to the decision that it was more important to provide healthy dog treats to all the pups than to make a couple extra bucks. I know this is an unconventional business practice perhaps but it’s the way I feel. So if you are one of the people that came by and indulged your dogs yesterday, come by I’ll give you a FREE bag of treats for your pups.

And, if you have ever had my brownies, this is my recipe that took months to develop. While all the gluten-free mixes are sold out, there are still several regular available. This way you can enjoy my brownies right out of your oven, warm and gooey… The way brownies are meant to be eaten! Mixes are $4 each. Gluten-free are $7.50 each. Gluten-free can also be made dairy free by special order for $8.50.

Battered Bliss by Jayne is located at 859 Kinsey St, Valpo. It is self serve today and during the week. New menu items will be available next week.! I will try to keep FROZEN CHEESECAKE PUSH-UPS in stock in the freezer at all times in case of those late night cheesecake/ice cream cravings!

I need to say thank you to everyone that stopped by yesterday for our grander opening event yesterday! It was wonderful to meet everybody and get to know a little bit about my customers, many of which were NEW! We love that!

There is a bit of a surprise today. For anybody that bought MAV’s FAVs dog treats yesterday, stop by today and I’ll give you a FREE BAG. I have reduced the price back down to the original $8 per bag or three for $21. I reviewed my numbers last night and decided that it was more important to provide healthy treats to pups than to make a couple more dollars. Unusual business practice, I know.

There are still a few zucchini bread, brownies, and cheesecakes, as well as the FROZEN CHEESECAKE PUSH-UPS (BIG HIT) in the refrigerator on the porch. There’s a couple of brownie mixes too. If you’ve ever had my brownies, this is my recipe. Take them home, add your own oil and eggs, and you’ve got my brownies… warm and gooey right out of the oven. Enjoy..

The gluten-free brownie mixes are available, but sold out at the moment I can also make gluten-free dairy free mixes if requested. But those must be ordered in advance.

Of course, everything can be ordered with a porch pick up. In order of 20 pretzels at $60. Which is a $15 savings. Leave them out here in a bag well, no they’re chocolate. I won’t do that. I’ll be home.

Come out today to the grand or grand opening. At 859 Kinsey St Valpo. We’re open and ready. Mavis is ready to meet folks and introduce her line of plant based dog treats that is newly approved for commercial sale and lab tested. We have the regular menu of brownies, gluten-free brownies, gluten-free dairy, free brownies, and toffee-dipped pretzels, peanut butter cookies, apple caramel tarts, zucchini bread …..even paint kits for refrigerator magnets for the kids.
So come come out and visit.
