These cakes are designed for intimate celebrations—small weddings, elegant birthdays, dinners, and milestones where you want something refined without the scale of a multi-tier build. Depending on diameter, single tiers typically serve 8–24.

All styles shown here are available through our Archived Works collection and can be lightly customized—palette shifts, seasonal florals, a short inscription, or subtle texture adjustments—while keeping the overall spirit of the design.

Just wanted to peek up out of the basement at Zuni to say hello! 👋🏽

Thank you for following my cake-making journey. I started this “hobby” about 17 years ago when I made my first wedding cake for a faux wedding in culinary school. Up until that point, I’d never come across a single practice that brought together so many of my passions — art, craftsmanship, design, and food. It was the first time since childhood that something lit me up completely.

I’ve never let that practice fall away, even during the years when cake work carried a (tragically) negative association — largely from a stint at a local cake shop during the pandemic. (Weird times… but eventually, you have to let bygones be gone.)

I’m grateful to have restored my appreciation for my craft — not only for the joy and satisfaction it brings me, but for the connection it creates with others. There’s something so special about seeing how art and food can uplift and celebrate people!

So, I’m happy to share that I’m no longer officially on hiatus. I’ll be taking a limited number of custom cake orders so each project gets the attention it deserves. The holidays are my busiest time at the restaurant, so availability will be very limited and on a first-come, first-served basis so feel free to use the form on my updated website to connect.

“Daniel this cake is gorgeous from every angle!!!” Emily reached out with a special request; a flower-centered, whimsical design but it had to be keto-friendly. I have gotten so many requests for keto cakes since trimming down my offerings late last year in an effort to streamline my processes. Now that I’m fully moved into my new (bigger) kitchen space in the Dogpatch, I think it’s a good time to start mindfully expanding back into alternative offerings (like keto and gluten-free cakes) and maybe bringing back some of our legacy flavor offerings (devil’s food cake with pink salt caramel anyone?) 😅 - Thanks, Emily!
