Consider this your unofficial Highway 108 Food Tour:
Start in Tuolumne at Black Oak Casino Resort, where there are plenty of dining options, but for an elevated experience, Seven Sisters is our personal favorite.
In Soulsbyville, if you stop by Divine Market for groceries do not sleep on the gyros from the food counter.
Across the highway in Mono Vista, U-Kneada Burrito & Pizza has chimichangas that are absolutely worth the detour, and Fit Fuel Kitchen is our new favorite healthy meal prep obsession - yes, we occasionally eat healthy.
Then make your way to Twain Harte, where the decisions get dangerous: Grab a Rock Burger at The Rock of Twain Harte. Hit The Sportsman Coffee Shop for the go-to Twain Harte breakfast - and by go-to we mean the cinnamon rolls, though dinner on Fridays and Saturdays deserves attention, too, especially the beef stroganoff - just leave some for us. Check out the amazing new menu at Twain Harte Golf Club, but our favorite is still an oldie-but-a-goodie - the wonton tacos. Visit Boba at Tiffany’s for boba, naturally, but we are also very serious about the taro fudge. Get your Chinese food fix at China House, your Mexican food cravings handled at El Jardin of Twain Harte, slow-smoked BBQ at Twain Harte Creamery , and pizza plus game-room fun at Pizza Factory Twain Harte.
Heading farther up the hill, Diamond Jim's in Mi-Wuk has great bar bites, especially the wings, plus a full bar. At The Pine Cone Cafe, the chicken fried steak is a personal favorite - YOLO. Mia's brings the pizza, but also those Brussels sprouts, along with an amazing wine and beer selection, including wine and beer to-go. You heard us: To. Go. (!!) Camp Town Coffee is the place for a cappuccino brûlée, which we’ve decided is going to be our new summer obsession. And if you make it to Strawberry Inn River Front Resort before the food coma sets in, the goulash is calling. Hungry? More like Hungary! (See what we did there?)
And don’t forget our Maker members popping up at fairs, farmers markets, and other events up and down the hill: Tater Wagon, Po-ta-toes has build-your-own baked potatoes, and we highly recommend the pulled pork. And for the carb lovers among us, Rustic Rise Breads & Bakes, Sourdough Dreams , and Two Acre Farms are doing very important baking work. Very important. Give us all the bread. All. Of. It.
So here’s your assignment, because Bigfoot hunting is hungry work: pick a spot, try something new, bring a friend, make a day of it, and one bite at a time.
