This might be a little cheesy, but then again, so is this Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar bread! 😅🧡✨
There was a moment when my world was falling apart that I almost let my sourdough starter die, too.
I had gone so long without feeding it that it was weak, neglected, and barely hanging on. And honestly, I understood it. I felt a lot like that myself.
But at the last second, I fed it.
Then I fed it again the next day. And the next.
I started nurturing it every day, and little by little, it came back to life. It grew stronger. More active. More resilient. Until one day, it was stronger than it had been before.
Today, after three months of not making bread, I baked my first loaves.
And they are strong. Beautiful. Nearly Perfect.
I couldn’t help but see myself in them.
Sometimes we don’t need to be perfect. Sometimes we just need someone or something to give us a little nourishment and keep showing up even if it’s ourselves.
I almost let my starter die when everything around me was falling apart.
Instead, I kept feeding it.
And somehow, in the process, I was reminded to keep feeding myself, too.
These loaves are more than bread to me. They’re a little glimpse of what’s coming.
I may have been neglected, exhausted, and barely hanging on for a while…
but I’m still here.
And I’m getting stronger every day.
Just like my starter, I’m going to rise again. 🤍
