At the beginning of September I weighed out this sugar with lots of ideas about cookie flavors for the cooler & places I was excited to restock. But unfortunately I had a surge of symptoms and had to lay down - so I wrapped this tight in plastic wrap until I felt better.
Today I finally unwrapped that sugar and threw it away.
As most of you know, I have been 100% gluten free for 15 years. Iāve ran this business for 7 years. So when February came and it suddenly hurt too bad to eat or drink and I was overwhelmed with joint pain and fatigue I started the doctor trips again - but I was finally met with answers: first RA, then after an endoscopy- refractory celiac with autoimmune lymphocytic gastritis. Honestly, itās been hard, as you all understand.
So, what is celiac taking from me? Time. Trust. Being able to stay awake. The ability to eat or drink without severe pain. 50 pounds lost. Medication side effects. Being able to work. Also a lot of teeth gone. lol š
But⦠what did it give me? This bakery. You guys. š A small little purpose to bring some old joy to as many people as I could, for as long as I could.
And while I have a small kernel of hope that Iāll be strong enough to swing 20 lb bowls of frosting soon while standing on my feet for 12 hours - for now any moment I can stand up and move around will be spent with my kids, fam & friends. š
Thank you all for your support all of these years. From beginning pick ups to our Sylvania months to bonding around a cooler in my driveway - you all have been wonderful. Youāve helped me be able to stay home and homeschool my children; youāve supported their dance and science adventures. And youāve all brightened so many days for me - whether it was a kind word or a ridiculous kid cake request i was excited to bring to life. I have truly appreciated you all.
I will be keeping my profile active, but am sadly closed for orders indefinitely. I am *hoping* to get my recipes & tips together for you all (cause I know how you guys feel about delicious stuffing and danishes).
Take care of yourselves and advocate like only you can.
Love always,
Natalie
