Hello friends and neighbors ☺️!

I have finally named my sourdough starter. I'm terrible at coming up with names for anything. Naming my kids? A huge struggle. So it's no wonder it took me four years to name my starter!

But the name came to me quickly and unexpectedly.

I was writing about how my business started and the fact that this starter was gifted to me. I mentioned where it originated—St. Marys, Kansas—and then it hit me...

Duh! Her name is Mary.

So, what do you think of her name? Does Mary sound like a good sourdough starter, or should I have gone with something a little more creative? 😄

Well friends and neighbors, it's been an eventful Monday. For those of you who don't know, I was supposed to close on my new home this Wednesday and move in over the weekend. Sadly, the heavy rains have made a mess of the newly graded yard and the contractor needs some dry weather to fix the yard before I close.

I am okay with waiting for a proper yard, but....I packed all my bakery stuff!! So, my bakery will not be open for at least two weeks. I will keep you posted, while I dream about moving day!

A friend asked to see this piece. This diarama was always on my late mother's dresser. She told me that a friend had made it for her, but I can't remember which friend. It's my mom, my brother in her arms as a baby, and me standing in front looking at my brother. My sister was born 3 years after my brother, so she wasn't around to be in the scene. It's sweet and now it sits on my dresser.
I was packing it for my move next week and remembered to snap a few pictures. However, the sun coming in the blinds made weird highlights on the glass. Hopefully, this makes it safely to my new home. So far, it has traveled from Southern California, to Southern Oregon, to Northern Missouri, to Nixa, and now to me.

I will be at the C-Street City Market tomorrow (Saturday) from 9a,m to 2pm. The rain is supposed to clear and be a cloudy, but rain free day. Take advantage of that rain break and get bread and sweet treats (like the S'Mores cookie pictured...tastes just like a s'mores!)

This week, I have new chocolate, chocolate chip cookies. They are super fudgy and yummy.
If all goes well, I will also have Blueberry Coffee Cake Sourdough bread. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Of course, all the usual deliciousness will be there.

Hello friends and neighbors ☺️!

Well, I hope everyone survived graduation weekend. My youngest son was my only graduation, but I know others who had several to attend. So how many did you or will you go to this month?

This one was my first to graduate from a highschool as my 3 older kids were homeschool grads. I have two more to go .. so yes, that means I have 6 kiddos.

Baking for my family is where I perfected my baking skills and learned how to bake a lot at one time. Still things disappeared faster than I could make them. It's almost easier baking for you all!

This is my soon to be home and new home of Cozy Cottage Bakes. I hope so anyway , as this is the 3rd house I have been under contract on. But all those failed contracts led me to the house that I really wanted. I can't wait to bake in this kitchen and have pickups on this porch. And it's just about a 5 minute drive north of my current home!
