Well this is what a leap of faith feels like. We knew this remodel would be required when we purchased the store 6 years ago but we didn’t know everything that would happen in those years (Covid, closed dining rooms, a broken compressor for the walk in, broken commercial AC, robbery, broken dipping cabinets, new menu boards with a provider pivot that cost $9k, and countless other things that just never seemed to stop). We are praying the remodel will give us a fresh start and a renewed opportunity to serve this community just like it has for nearly 3 decades. Special thanks to Virginia Flores for all her hard prep work. We can’t wait to open our doors back up and see you again soon. Jason Layh

Did you know that each Baskin Robbins franchise is owned by a person? In our case, it's our family business and we have some exciting things coming to our little shop! Our Baskin Robbins has operated in New Braunfels at this location since 1994. Parts of it are still original (check those floors). We are due for a mandatory remodel by the end of this year. As you can imagine, remodels are expensive.
This doesn’t take into account the new freezer compressor we just replaced for our walk in that totaled just over $12,000. We already purchased several big items like digital menu boards, three door freezer, and 2 new dipping cabinets.
I think sometimes people see a franchise and think that it’s a big corporation or that somehow the brand helps us pay for these things. They actually don’t, and in many cases, their vendors cost us more than what we could acquire independently.
So what can you do to help support a small local business that wants to keep donating to your soccer teams, church fundraisers, business expos, and raffle prizes? Just buy some ice cream or order a cake! Think of us when you prepare for your next celebration or just need a treat.
We will have to close our doors for a couple of weeks during the remodel beginning 12/9 and that will lead to lost revenue in addition to new debt we’ve had to acquire. We love being a part of this community and I can’t wait to show everyone the new look. It’s gonna be so cute!!!
