I’ve kept quiet about this for most of the season, but it feels like the right time to share.
September 27th marked my final Muscatine Area Farmer’s Market of the season, and I wanted to give a bit of context behind that decision.
This was my third year at the market, and while I’ve truly enjoyed connecting with customers and fellow vendors, this season brought some challenges. Under new management, the market structure shifted — leading to a heavier overlap between vendors and a noticeable change in overall sales. From a business standpoint, it simply made more sense for me to redirect my time and resources elsewhere.
There have also been a few situations that didn’t align with the spirit of originality and collaboration that I value — including a vendor blatantly replicating flavors and ideas from both myself and another baker. I’m all for supporting other small businesses, but I believe that support should come from creativity and respect, not imitation.
I understand the market is working to adapt and grow, but for now, I’ll be stepping back.
Moving forward: if I return next season, it will be on a limited basis, and I’ll post my schedule in advance.
You can still place orders anytime through Facebook, Instagram, by phone, or at Warrior Srrength & Conditioning, and you’ll continue to find my baked goods at Crit & Crumble. I’ll also participate in select specialty markets throughout the year.
Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement. It’s been such a joy sharing what I love with this community, and I’m looking forward to what’s next — hopefully with a warm loaf of bread in hand. ❤️🍞
