Last night everything was going smoothly. I was feeling pretty confident thinking, “Yes! I’ve got this. I might even have time to add a fun extra goodie to the shack this week.” Then life decided absolutely not. 😂

I somehow managed to burn my hand and not just a little “oops” burn either. Usually burns don’t really bother me, but this one HURT. The oven was on and the heat behind it had heated up the baking sheet, so of course I grabbed it right where it was scorching hot. The only relief I could get was holding something cold.

I managed to get everything packaged up and decided to call it a day early so I could sit with my hand glued to an ice pack like a dramatic little bakery gremlin. 🧊🍞

This morning I’ve decided maybe I’m just a wimp because it doesn’t even look as bad as it felt last night. Either way, life apparently wants to make sure I stay on my toes at all times.

Yes! I’m not totally convinced these are the perfect hot dog bun size because I don’t exactly have a hot dog sitting around for a proper bun to dog comparison test, but still… I did that! 🌭✨

Sometimes I really impress myself. Making all these things I never thought I’d be capable of, or even brave enough to attempt, and somehow here I am just out here crushing it. One loaf, one muffin, one questionable but pretty good hot dog bun at a time.

I prepped more garlic mozzarella pull-aparts this week in case you missed them last time!

They disappeared ridiculously fast last week, so I made extra in hopes there’s a little more to go around this time. Soft sourdough layers loaded with garlic, butter, herbs, and melty mozzarella… basically the kind of bread that makes people stand in the kitchen “just grabbing one more piece” six times in a row.

If you were thinking about trying one, don’t wait too long because these cheesy little flavor bombs seem to vanish the second they hit the stand.

Sourdough hot dog buns are officially on the menu for this week and they deserve a redemption round.

These aren’t your average store bought buns that fall apart halfway through your hot dog and leave you wearing ketchup like an accessory. These buns are soft, flavorful, sturdy enough to hold all the toppings, and have that signature sourdough chew that makes every bite better. Toast them up on the grill and they turn into little golden clouds with crispy edges. Absolute summer magic.

The long fermentation process also makes sourdough easier to digest for many people, while giving these buns a richer flavor you just can’t get from regular bread. Once you try a brat, hot dog, or even a pulled pork sandwich on homemade sourdough buns, the plain packaged buns start tasting a little sad and cardboard-ish.

Trust me, you’re going to want to sn**ch these up this week before they disappear from the stand. I was lucky enough to have some of those messed up buns last week that never hit the shelf!

Well… I was really thinking this would be a week with zero muffins, but apparently that plan didn’t last long. 😅

Cinnamon crumb muffins will be hitting the shelves this week! These soft, buttery muffins have that beautiful layer of cinnamon sugar tucked right into the middle plus a crumbly sweet topping that gives every bite the perfect balance of cozy spice and sweetness.

They smell like a bakery collided with a Saturday morning kitchen and honestly I couldn’t resist making them.

It was a long day of prepping. Started with a quick trip to the store at 8am to make sure I had jugs of water because I prefer room temperature water for my sourdough loaves. It helps keep the rise time a little more consistent, and at this point consistency feels like gold.

Got all the dough mixed, stretch and folds done, then moved on to cookie dough. Rolled all of those into balls before heading back to add inclusions to the sourdough loaves and shaping them. Then it was on to weighing and rolling hot dog buns before circling back again to roll out the garlic mozzarella pull-apart bread.

By the end of the day my kitchen looked like a flour storm had blown through and I lost count of how many times I questioned what I got myself into by committing to homemade buns this week. 😅

Today was definitely a reminder of why cookies usually get their own prep day. I finally hung up the apron at 10:30 tonight completely exhausted. I am tired.

After last week’s over-proofed hot dog bun disaster, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to attempt them again this week… but here we are, giving it another go. 🤞🏼

My fingers are crossed that I don’t wake up to another dough explosion waiting for me in the morning. Baking can be a little humbling sometimes, but we try again anyway.

Before their last rise I will reshape them just a tad then bake if all goes well!
