Hi friends, I need your help. Small Comforts Kitchen is at serious risk of failing if I don’t ask for financial support from our community.

I opened SCK in 2022 because I have celiac disease, and I wanted to share my seasonally inspired, gluten-free baking with our community. What started as a home business grew into a farmers' market pop-up & coffee shop supplier. I opened our brick & mortar location in May 2025, only to have to close it this January.

We've had issues with our location's access & visibility from the beginning, but in October, construction began on the courtyard outside our main entrance. The impact to our foot traffic and access caused a huge sales drop during the holiday season. I was told construction would be finished in mid-February, so at the end 2025 I decided to temporarily close the storefront, stopping the major losses, but keep the space as a bakery & focus on the parts of the business that were steady in the meantime: farmers’ markets, pop-ups, & wholesale.

It's June now. Construction still isn’t finished. I'm stuck.

Back in the winter, I was scrambling to make up for the losses we were experiencing, and I took on high-interest debt. I didn’t want to lay off staff at Christmas, and I believed, based on the timeline I was given, that we could recover quickly. But now, with that emergency debt still hanging over us, I'm paying storefront overhead and storefront debt WITHOUT the benefit of a viable storefront.

The good news is: our current market, pop-up, & wholesale model is working. Without the debt, we’d actually be financially healthy. We could keep baking, showing up, supplying our coffee shops, and eventually reopen the storefront from a steadier place.

But with the debt as it is, practically all my revenue is going to repayment. The business can't breathe & I'm running out of options. So, I'm launching a GoFundMe to help us get through this season.

If you can't give, sharing means just as much. I know so many are in need right now and I'm grateful you're here, still reading. Feeding this community is my favorite thing. Thank you so much.

CINNAMON ROLLS - today at from 8 to noon! Today they came out of the oven JUST IN TIME to get frosted before I brought them over to the pop up! The address is 713 Winona St.

We will be phasing these off the menu soon given the summer heat, so grab them while you can - works really hard at these and they're the best gluten-free ones I've personally ever had. 💗 Also available at this Saturday's market (reminder that we are only in Knoxville this weekend).

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE: 10 to 1 on Wednesday and 9 to 1 on Saturday AND our weekly Thursday pop-up 8 to noon at . Keep an eye on stories for menus as they change from event to event!

We will ONLY be in Knoxville this Saturday - but we'll be bringing a TON to make up for only being in one place, so come see us! Just one of those weeks where I cannot clone myself, so your effort to come seek us out is much appreciated 💗 see ya soon, be kind, love ya.

Gluten-free treats for your weekend are headed to the Maryville Farmers' Market and Market Square Market tomorrow (Saturday 5/30)! As I all-caps-texted to the team earlier this week, "MAMA'S GOT CAROLINA PEACHES" and we're ushering in a new month with BLACKBERRY PEACH GALETTES! I could not be more psyched about this -- I listened to "Perfect Day" from Legally Blonde while packing up the car just now and I think that plus a summer fruit galette is sufficient to pull ya up out of some depression if you're feeling it these days. We also have:

• Lemon Loaf Cake
• Loaded Baked Potato Galette (I won't say it's the LAST week for these but we're getting close to replacing them with some other savory summer favorites)
• Rosemary Olive Focaccia, dare I say the best batch yet
• Choc Chip Cookie (brown butter, flaky salt)

• Cinnamon Rolls

A WORD ABOUT THE WEATHER, by which I mean HUMIDITY: it has been a real struggle to keep product happy in this heat and I do expect that we will need to drop all frosted items earlier this year than I have in the past, so, get your cinnamon rolls while you can and we will figure out a solution for offering them in another setting if possible.

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE : You know, the forecast says rain every day, but it also said that last week, and most of the days it was sunny every day too, so that's the energy we'll bring into the week. TWO things can be true, and we are all more than a storm cloud icon!

Farmers' markets are RAIN OR SHINE, and we have two tomorrow (Saturday 5/23)! 8:30-11:30 and 9-1. I spotted my first fireflies of the summer this evening, so I'd say things are looking up no matter the weather.

Let us know tomorrow if you want cookies next week, Maryville. They have not been selling out for the most part so we figured we'd take a breather this week! My favorite this week is actually our blueberry scone. The least glamorous item on the tray, probably, but I am obsessed with its wholesomeness, is the best word I can say, and its comforting slight sweetness. Did I eat 2.5 "broken" ones today instead of lunch? No, absolutely I did not.

A little glimpse from my POV of the pastry case when I am sitting down due to the HEAT! Thanks for coming out to Market Square, Knoxville! Reminder that we are not going to be at tomorrow (Thurs 5/21) but you can find us there next week, as well as Saturday at , and any day of the week at .

PS an old segment about making hand pies aired on the news this morning, I learned - we love the press, but we aren't open at the storefront! Come find us at markets!

We have a sunny forecast for today (Wednesday) so you have zero excuses for not swinging by Market Square from 10 to 1 today! Strawberry season is on its way out but we still have these gorg strawberry galettes for you (someone on Saturday told me they were the prettiest pastries in the whole market 🥹 I don't know about that but it was kind)! We've also got rosemary olive focaccia, cheddar chive scones, raspberry hand pies, cardamom snickerdoodles, and chocolate chip cookies on deck. See you soon , gluten-free pals!
