A Sweet Truth (and long post):
Yesterday was my first pop up market & I was disappointed with my low sales. It made me doubt myself, my products, my booth setup, & my interactions with the shoppers. I felt like maybe pop-up markets weren't for me.
My husband took me out to dinner last night & we just happened to go somewhere that was having live music (something we love). The band was a trio of older gentlemen playing covers from the 60's-80's, music that we like among other decades of music. It's something they do for fun. They were very kind & came out to the crowd to take requests. We had some good conversations with them. As we were watching & listening to them the passion they have for music was very evident and it was so heartwarming to see how much they enjoy it.
That show made me reflect on how much joy I get from baking & that it's my passion in addition to my profession. It also made me reflect on the day at the market & realize that my passion for what I do makes it worth it to me. I enjoyed creating the treats for it, especially the sugar cookies. All of that washed away my doubts.
I met some very nice people- both vendors & shoppers. I got to witness other people displaying the things they're passionate about & the pride they take in their craft. Even if I didn't sell much, I had quite a few inquiries & a lot of business cards picked up. The venue was nice & I got to do a little shopping too! Hats off to the other vendors!
I learned a lot from this market & it has reinvigorated me for the next one. Thank you to the customers & the folks who stopped by to chat. I want to say a very special thank you to my husband for all his help with this, his encouragement & support. He is amazing! β€οΈ
I hope you'll check out my booth at the next market on June 20th at Heritage High School. I look forward to it & that's a sweet truth! π
