🍂🌻 Remember when we said, “With any luck, cooler weather is coming!”?

Well… apparently we jinxed it. 🥵☀️🔥

Instead, we got a heat wave and near-record temperatures because Missouri likes to keep us humble. 😂

BUT — the calendar still says fall is coming, even if the thermometer strongly disagrees! 🍁🎃

🎉❤️ WHAT IS THE KHS ACTIVITY FAIR? ❤️🎉

New to KHS? Here’s the scoop!

The Activity Fair is your student’s chance to discover ALL the ways to get involved at KHS — and there truly is something for everyone! 🖤🤍❤️

🎭 Social clubs
📚 Academic clubs
🤝 Service organizations
🎨 Special-interest groups
🏫 And SO much more!

Clubs and activities will have tables set up in the Denver Miller Gym, usually with student members there to answer questions, explain what they do and tell your student how the group communicates — email, text, TeamSnap, GroupMe, or probably several apps this poster has never heard of. 😂

⭐ OUR BIGGEST TIP: SIGN UP!

If your student has even the slightest interest in something, encourage them to put their name down. Signing up does NOT commit them to joining and there are no fees charged at the Activity Fair. It simply gets them on the club’s communication list so they can learn more.

Can’t make the fair — or didn’t get to every table? No problem! Students can email the club advisor to ask about the first meeting. Advisor emails follow the format [email protected].

❤️ ONE MORE THING:
The Activity Fair can feel a little fast-paced and overwhelming, especially for new students. That’s okay! The goal isn’t to figure out your entire high school life in one evening — it’s simply a chance to explore what’s out there.

👀 Parents: You are technically welcome at the Activity Fair… but your student may have some thoughts about that. 😂

📣 THEN STICK AROUND FOR THE PEP RALLY!

At 6:30 PM, the action moves to Holley Gym for a FREE, quick and fun night of Pioneer spirit! 🎉

🎶 The band will play
💃 The Pommies will dance
📣 The cheerleaders will perform
❤️ And more!

The pep rally runs 6:30–7:00 PM.

Students sit with their grade level in the bleachers, and parents — who really are welcome for this part 😉 — sit in the visitor section.

Come explore, find your people and kick off the year with some Pioneer pride! ❤️🤍🖤

❤️🤍🖤 WELCOME BACK, KHS STAFF! 🖤🤍❤️

Tuesday may be the students’ first day, but our amazing KHS staff has been hard at work for weeks getting everything ready for our kids! 📚🍎

To say a little THANK YOU, KHS PPO Staff Appreciation welcomed back our teachers, TAs, counselors, principals and secretaries with lunch! 🥪🧁

We served up Jimmy John’s sandwiches, fruit salad, chips, cookies, cupcakes, sodas and sparkling waters — a small way to show our appreciation for everything they do for KHS students and families. ❤️

And here’s the important part: YOU made this possible! 🙌

Staff appreciation events like this are funded by your generous donations to the Pioneer Challenge — PPO’s only fundraiser of the year. Your donations go right back into supporting our KHS students and staff throughout the school year.

🚨❤️ FIRST DAY TRAFFIC HEADS-UP, PIONEERS! ❤️🚨

The first morning of school at KHS is exciting… and the traffic is CRAZY. 😅 Nearly 2,000 students and staff are arriving within about 30 minutes, so here are a few things to know before Tuesday morning:

🚗 ALLOW LOTS OF EXTRA TIME
Traffic backs up in both directions on Dougherty Ferry and Essex. The first week is always slower than normal, but it gets better each day as everyone settles into a routine!

🎉 SENIOR WELCOME
Our Seniors traditionally give students a very enthusiastic first-day welcome! The biggest crowd is usually at the Dougherty Ferry lot, with a more toned-down version at Essex.

Each Senior class is different, so we don’t know exactly what they have planned — but if your student is anxious, sensitive to noise, or easily overwhelmed by large crowds, consider Chopin for drop-off. ❤️

⏰ WANT THE HOOPLA? ARRIVE EARLY!
Our Seniors have to get to class too! If your student wants the full first-day experience, plan to arrive before about 7:35 AM.

🚌 PLEASE WATCH FOR BUSES
Buses arrive and depart through the Essex lot. Please keep their path clear — they have more students to pick up after ours!

📸 GET THE PHOTO… THEN KEEP IT MOVING!
We know you need that first-day picture! ❤️ Snap it quickly and safely, then keep the line moving. Or ask your student for a selfie once they’re inside. 😉

🅿️ AND A LITTLE LOVE FOR OUR NEW DRIVERS…
Many Juniors are driving to KHS for the very first time — in a packed parking lot, on an already hectic morning…and some are about to discover the joy of parallel parking. 😬

Please give them a little grace (and maybe skip the horn!). ❤️

Our best first-day advice?

Leave early. Take the picture. Pack your patience. And enjoy the excitement! ❤️🤍🖤
