The days of walking out to the garden and figuring out dinner based on whatever is ready are just about over.
And that makes me a little sad.
I’m going to miss grabbing tomatoes still warm from the sun, pulling an onion because I need one, or realizing I forgot an ingredient and just walking outside to get it.
But I’m also ready for the break.
By the end of the season, the garden starts feeling a little less like a peaceful hobby and a little more like a needy toddler. Pick me. Water me. W**d me. Deal with these 47 zucchini immediately.
There’s still food tucked away for winter, and there are already plans forming in my head for next year. But for a little while, I’m ready to let the garden sleep.
And maybe me too. 😂
What's on the plate? Teriyaki chili crisp chicken thigh with garden veg and rice.
