Package 1 dozen sourdough pain au chocolate croissants with me 🤤

07/14/2026

I had already posted this letter i guess to my personal page but I feel like it should live here. It’s a bit of our story…

My mind is still blown that SourdoughAble Bakery has been nominated as one of the Top 5 Vendor Market Businesses in Livingston Parish. 💛
This little bakery started in 2021 with me simply making extra sourdough loaves while I was learning and giving them away to anyone willing to try them. I still love giving away extras and letting people sample new recipes, but what began as a hobby has grown into something that allows me to stay home with my children, gives my husband the opportunity to work a little less, and is slowly becoming something my daughters can one day be a part of.
Baking has always kept me grounded. For years, being home with my family was enough. But over the last two years, I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and started becoming part of the communities around me. I’ve made friendships I’ll always treasure.
The biggest turning point, though, was opening my heart back up to God. I truly found myself again at Blackwater United Methodist Church. The people there encouraged me to believe in myself, take a chance, and sign up for vendor events. That leap of faith led me to buying my very first vendor setup for the City of Central Fall Festival in 2024.
Back then, most of my baking happened around the holidays. Christmas was wonderfully busy—but it was also exhausting. I was homeschooling two incredible special-needs daughters while baking everything by myself for vendor events. Weeks before each event were spent around the clock mixing dough, organizing ingredients, timing oven schedules, and trying to keep our household running. I had no consistent baking schedule or delivery days, and I carried a lot of mom guilt because every loaf I baked felt like time away from my girls.
Looking back now, it’s almost funny.
I baked everything in one kitchen oven that was literally held together with Gorilla Glue and bungee cords. I stored supplies on bamboo shoe racks stacked across our dining room table and kitchen island. I had two sheet pans and eight loaf pans… and somehow, I made it work. Mostly because I genuinely love serving people.
Today, our family has transformed a room in our home into a dedicated bakery. We have another oven, mixers of every size, and systems that actually make sense. We now have guaranteed weekly Friday deliveries, a wonderful group of customers who receive fresh bread every single week, and you can also find us at our monthly pop-up at Le Chien Brewing Company in Denham Springs every First Friday from 6-9pm. I still accept specialty orders throughout the week whenever my schedule allows.
Right now, we’re at capacity —and that’s something I never imagined saying.
We have a few exciting things in the works, and I honestly cannot wait to share them with all of you as we head into the holiday season.
From every person who bought a loaf, shared a post, stopped by my booth, told a friend, prayed for my family, or simply believed in me before I believed in myself…
Thank you.
This little bakery has become so much more than bread. It’s become a story of faith, family, community, and second chances.
And to be nominated as one of the Top 5 in Livingston Parish… I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this dream possible. ❤️🍞

🏆 The Official 2026 Best of Livingston Parish Nominees Are Here! 🏆

It’s finally time!

The nominations have been counted, the Top 5 in each category have been finalized, and we’re officially announcing this year’s Best of Livingston Parish nominees!

What’s been amazing is that even before we officially announced the nominees, many of you noticed voting had quietly opened on our website. Since Friday, we’ve already had more than 3,700 votes cast, simply through people sharing the ballot and spreading the word. That’s incredible, and it shows just how excited Livingston Parish is for this year’s awards.

If you haven’t voted yet, there’s still plenty of time! Official voting is open now through August 15.

📍 Important: Because Facebook limits how many people and businesses can be tagged in one post, all 35 categories and their nominees will be posted in the comments below. Find your category, congratulate your fellow nominees, tag your friends, and don’t forget to cast your vote!

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be traveling all over Livingston Parish to personally visit every nominee with:

🏆 An official Best of Livingston Parish Nominee photo
✉️ An invitation to our invite-only Best of Livingston Parish Awards Party

Every nominee will receive the same recognition, so if you don’t see me immediately, don’t worry. I’ll be making my way across the parish to visit everyone.

If you’re a nominee and I don’t know where your business is located, or you’re nominated as an individual rather than a business, please send me a message! We’ll set up a time to meet so I can deliver your invitation and take your official nominee photo.

Congratulations to every business, organization, and individual who earned a place in this year’s Top 5. Being nominated by your community is an accomplishment in itself, and I can’t wait to celebrate each of you.

Now… let’s see who Livingston Parish chooses. ❤️🏆

After months of celebrating the people, places, businesses, and organizations that make our community special, we’re excited to officially launch the First Annual Best of Livingston Parish Awards presented by Living In Parish Magazine!

This is the first fan-voted awards program created specifically for Livingston Parish, giving residents the opportunity to recognize the businesses, leaders, organizations, and local favorites they believe deserve the spotlight.

Here’s how it works:

• Phase One: Nominations (Now Open!)
For the next two weeks, we’ll be accepting nominations across all categories. We encourage you to nominate your favorite businesses, nonprofits, restaurants, professionals, community leaders, and local gems throughout Livingston Parish.

• Phase Two: Final Voting
Once nominations close, the top five most-nominated entries in each category will advance to the final voting round, where the community will determine the winners.

• Phase Three: The Best of Livingston Parish Issue
Winners will be featured in our August/September edition of Living In Parish Magazine, which will serve as our official Best of Livingston Parish issue and be distributed parish-wide.

Businesses that advance to the final round will also have special advertising and recognition upgrade opportunities available for the August/September issue. More details on those options will be announced soon.

Now here’s where we need your help:

Tag your favorite small businesses.
Tag your friends.
Tag the restaurant you can’t stop talking about.

First time making gram crackers. These are a long ferment sourdough so truly gut healthy. Did you know gram crackers are made with whole wheat flour and sweetened with honey? I didn’t. Anyway, these are going to the base of our s’mores cookies and the rest will be ground up and used in our gram cracker crust for our pop up and pre orders are still available.
3 pineapple cream pies
2 chocolate pies
9 s’mores cookies

Single slices of pie will be available only for purchase at our pop up this Friday from 6-9

The inside of the pies recipes belong to my mamaw Dorothy. The crust is a new recipe allowing me to create a gut healthy crust.

Hope to see you guys out there. Follow along on Instagram for stories.
