Last night was a fantastic experience of talent in the Towson Jewish community at the Open Mic Coffee House at The Bun Shop. We were absolutely astounded by the performances which included vocals, poetry readings, and even a mentalist!

Started my day out at The Bun Shop to get my cup of energy ⚡️ and it is a great place for coffee meetings ☕️ While I was waiting for my red eye, I had the opportunity to speak with one of the employees. Her name is Remie and she is an aspiring artist. She showed me some of her designs which I found to be very fascinating. The beanie she is wearing in the picture is actually one of her designs. She mentioned how she is excited and nervous about an upcoming Spring Festival where she will have a vendor spot and get the chance to sell her products. It was a pleasure to learn about someone else’s aspirations & dreams. You have to commend her for taking the risk and having the courage to put up the money to bulk order her products before even knowing if they will sell. Shows she believes in herself. She also has the fear of what happened during the pandemic looming over her hoping that it does not get cancelled by chance. It was a reminder that the people we come into contact with on a daily basis are more than just an employee at that business. Everyone has a unique journey and definitely made me more curious to learn more about other people’s goals that I come into contact with on a daly basis.

So I just heard from several friends that they no longer go to Bun Shop because you’re employing a white supremacist—is this true? It would be a shame, but I wouldn’t support that either. Please answer.

For more than 3 years I had the habit of enjoying a coffee and maybe a pastry from your coffeeshop after getting a haircut at The Beatnik Barbershop on W. Read St. Today around noon I was looking forward to my usual routine but instead I had an irksome exchange from one of your employees. Before I wanted to order I asked the attendant for the code of the restroom. After a couple of tries of asking him he begrudgingly mumbled a number, which I repeated to confirm I got the right code. I tried the code and it didn’t open. So I assumed someone was using the restroom and waited a couple of minutes. After that I knocked again and after getting no response I went again to the young attendant and repeated the numbers he gave me. I received an annoyed response from him that the code was fine. But I let him know again that it didn’t work and asked if he could come and open it for me. That’s when he brusquely replied, “the restrooms are for costumers only.” I informed him that I was going to get something, but before I was finished saying that he turned his back to me. Needless to say that after feeling so unwelcomed I decided to leave.

I am not expecting an apology or a token nor the reprimand of the attendant. My only plea is to please reconsider your policies regarding the restroom and thus avoid dehumanizing the people that visit your store, especially those who patronize your establishment. Perhaps you could start with getting rid of the coded lock.

Finally a local coffee shop in uptown Towson that opens before 10am on the weekends!!! Ordered the spicy mocha and a berry danish roll and both were excellent, fresh, tasty.
