Happy Sunday and hope all is well and everyone is staying safe. I've been getting a lot of messages lately for recipes, techniques etc. While I try to help the best I can, I thought I would let you know what I've been up to.....First of all I want to dispel any rumors that I am restarting the bakery......You may ask......How did this rumor start? Pretty simple.....a little baking at home for friends and neighbors and a few more. If you want to get on the weekly list, just message me. At the present time, I am making some of the Goldman's favorites.

There should be no misunderstanding. All kosher ingredients are used but there is NO rabbinical supervision. This is just a little hobby.

On my last anniversary post i promised to give out a popular recipe from the bakery. Well here it is......This is a very simple formula for PUFF PASTRY DOUGH that you can use for many things including one of our best sellers "NORWEGIAN KICHEL". Most of the ingredients if not all , will probably be in your house already.
1 pound 9 ounces All purpose shortening
5 ounces margarine or butter
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 pound 4 ounces water
1 pound 14 ounces flour
optional flavors ...Almond, Lemon , butter flavors
Most bakers do all their measurements by weight so I apologize in advance if you use cups, etc.
1. Mix shortening and margarine/ butter together along with all flavors....mix just enough to combine.
2. Add water and scrape all shortening from edges of bowl
3. Add Flour and mix just to combine....do not overmix. Dough will sticky but together
4. Transfer to a floured suface and flatten out.
Here is where it gets a little tricky.
5. Roll dough out or flatten with hands and do a single fold....
when you look at dough from the side it will look like 3 layers
6. Place on a pan llned with paper and flour
7. Refrigerate for 1/2 hour
8. Next fold is a book fold.......When you look at from the side it will have 4 layers
9. Refrigerate for at least another 1/2 hour
10. Repeat another book fold like above
11. Refrigerate overnight and your dough is ready to go
On the next post, I will show you some of the easy things you can make at home from this recipe. Last week when I broke this recipe down from a 250 pound recipe, I tested it at home and had rave reviews from family and friends.

It’s New Year’s Eve and time for our anual update. 2019 was a great year for all of us and we have continued the progress from our first year of retirement.
It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun. It seems like just yesterday that we were turning out our last sweets. It’s great when we see some of you while we’re out and about in town.
Some of my gym buddies and trainers at Brick Bodies in Reisterstown have been sampling some of my cookies, rugelach and challahs as I practice at home. Home baking is completely different than commercial baking in large scale.
If you had one item that you could bring back what would it be? Let’s have a little vote and we’ll work on sharing the recipe in the coming weeks.
Take a look at my kitchen on Chanukah. It got a little out of hand.

To all of our former customers and friends: It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since we baked our final goodies and said goodbye to all of you. We thought it would be great to give you an update/ progress report of how we are doing.
Life is good and everyone is healthy. Retirement has given us the chance to spend more time with family and travel. Hiking, biking, reading, cooking, exercising and yes the thing we treasure the most .......SLEEP.
We miss each and everyone of you and not a day goes by where we don’t see or hear from some of you when we shop or walk around the neighborhood.
Let us know how you’re doing. Our best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.
