Shana tova! We have apple specials this week in honor of Rosh Hashanah. Pictured here is a round challah studded with apples for a sweet start to the new year. If you're looking for an extra sweet blessing, we'll also have Apple Caramel Babka--our beloved whole grain enriched base with a rich apple c***r caramel and chopped apples. We're back open this week! A little snapshot of what we've been up to during our August break: visited friends SPARROWBUSH BAKERY in a Hudson, NY; made our annual pilgrimage to the delights of Bread and Salt in Jersey City; visited the new location of Tabor Bread in Portland, OR; baked for family; and hiked a whole lot with loved ones. Get your bread, be a part of the village (3 generations in that third photo!), bring your Dora lil backpack to stock up. Bailey will be here for tarot readings 10a-1 p on Saturday--happy Leo season! 🌾 Open Today Sat 7/18, Closed Week of 7/20 🌾 The bakery is BACK this week for our usual schedule. However, we’ve been enduring extra challenges lately related to the recent heat waves, the unexpected three phase BGE power outage, and an acute family emergency. It’s been an intense time and in order to avoid an outage of our personal power (ha!) we’re going to take a small midsummer break starting 7/23. All funds from soft serve sales will go to benefit immigrant families in Baltimore. Thank you for organizing . We got our hands on some einkorn! It's been a tough season for einkorn from the immediate surrounding region, so we broadened our horizon and ordered from a grower in Missouri. It's beautiful stuff and we mixed it with spelt this week for a loaf we're calling Speinkorn. PA einkorn will be back this summer, and as always, we're doing all that we can to bake local, whole grain, and sourdough 💥🌾❤️
