Established in 1946 by Melvin (POP) Clow to feed his new and growing family after coming home from the Second World War, Clow Farms is a small farmlet located just outside of Annapolis.

A Family Tradition at the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market
My father operated stall #2 at the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market for over 40 years. He was famous for his blackberries, cookies, jelly and jam, and especially for his hugs! As he got older and his social circle got smaller, the market became the center of his life. It was his purpose, his social club, and his way to stay engaged in the community as a life long Annapolitan. As he neared his 90’s he needed more help at the market and that’s when I became a regular at the market on Saturday mornings too.
Let me tell you, there’s nothing harder than being a Bluesman (www.bigmoneyblues.com) on a Friday night then opening the market at 6:30am!
When my father passed away I chose to keep the family tradition alive, with my own style of course, and Clow’s Berry Patch became Chef Big Money Pies. It is still a family affair, you’ll often see my granddaughter Sara running the shop, especially after one of those Friday night gigs!
The family is approaching 50 years of serving honest, simply, home cooks food and treats for the Annapolis community. I hope you’ll stop by one Saturday and treat yourself to a delicious, bread, jam or Cinna$Money bread!

For me, today started by hearing on the HISTORY podcast that on this day the first Frisbee was created by Wham-O toys. I heard "bought from inventors" which threw me into my normal hours-long internet search for answers. I prefer to give credit to the original inventors who seem to get lost in the translations through the years. What I discovered was perfect for today.
Our Frisbee originated by college kids tossing the pie pans from Frisbie Pies.
Frisbie Pie Company originated in Bridgeport, CT in 1871 by William Russell. They grew to be a very large company and lasted until 1958.
In 2016 a collector and frisbee fan, Dan O'Connor bought the company name & rights (I read original recipe too) to bring Frisbie Pie company back. It was in Bridgeport, CT and he delivered them in one of their original, restored 1936 Chevy Trucks. It seemed to survive for only a few years and this makes me sad.
So, on this Pie Day - remember to support local Pie businesses. They need us to survive.

Wish I had a picture of our pie we bought, but there is nothing left! LOL! I discovered you this past Saturday and will be buying your pies from now on!
