I've been in France for a few days wandering wonderful markets and eating delicious things! But you can't take the cook out of me when I'm on holiday! We were asked if we'd like to pick quinces from a friends tree.....who am I to say no? This of course means I have been in France, preparing membrillo for our French hosts! I do have my tray of quinces at home so I shall have some in time for Devon Christmas markets too!

Hello! I will be at the Shaugh Prior Village Hall Apple Day celebrations on Saturday with yummy appley goodies - apple cakes, apple pies, apple buns, (and cinnamon buns, ramblejacks and a range of sourdough). I'll also have new season chutneys, jams, pickles and spicy condiments, and freshly harvested Devon honey, some with beautiful chunks of honeycomb. Let me know if you'd like anything special by Wednesday evening so I know what I'm preparing for! Thank you! 😊

Quince season has started! I'll be making jam, chutney and membrillo over the next few weeks, ready for Christmas markets in November and December. These are huge fragrant fruits, and will the whole house will smell wonderful when they're cooking!

Hello lovely people! It's the first of local apple days tomorrow, and I shall be joining Yealmpton to celebrate with all of my Appley goodies! Dutch Apple Pie, whole Normandy apple cakes as well as slices, and spiced apple buns (as well as cinnamon buns). Various apple chutneys, spiced jellies and sauces, and of course marmalades and summer jams. AND! Of course there will be sourdough! Old Bakery Square and Parish Rooms, adjacent to the very appropriately named Nelli's Cafe! Yealmpton's famous apple press will be in action, so bring apples and bottles if you'd like home made juice! Any time from 10am....

I haven't made one of these since my kids were at primary school! I think Apple Day counts as a harvest festival so watc...

I shall be at the Shaugh Prior Village Hall Coffee Morning and Country Market this Saturday (Sept 5th), with a selection of breads, buns, summer jams, marmalades and chutneys. Hello lovely people! As mentioned at last week's coffee morning, I'll be doing a limited sourdough bake on Thursday 13th if anyone would like a loaf delivered to your home. Multiseed light rye, wholewheat and toasted oat, or classic white, £4.50 each, or a traybake foccaccia (12 x 8ins) £6.50. Let me know by Tuesday 9pm as I'll be preparing dough on Wednesday for Thursdays bake. Other breads will be back for September's coffee morning and Farmers Market. Thankyou!

A well earned elevenses after last night's storm and the start of sourdough prep for the weekend. This is the last jar of last year's Very Berry jam and it's all for me! It's delicious. I have the first of this season's preserves to take to the Sparkwell Farmers Market on Sunday, but you'll have to wait for this year's Very Berry!
