The last of the warm Bank Holiday weekend wedding cakes, delivered to Quob Park Estate (who have the most amazing floor wine fridge!)

Three tiers: lemon & elderflower (bottom two tiers) and white chocolate & raspberry, covered in plain buttercream and decorated with edible pressed flowers from Nurtured in Norfolk. It was finished with a bakery made topper of the couple in their wedding outfits.

The second of the bank holiday wedding cakes set up at the stunning The Old Dairy at Andover.

Three tiers: carrot, lemon and raspberry and vegan lemon (with bakery made vegan lemon curd). Covered in semi naked vegan buttercream (just to avoid any cross contamination!) and decorated with the most beautiful flowers from Sarah Guild Floral Design.

The first wedding cake of the hot bank holiday weekend, wasn't your traditional cake.

When we first met Susan and Sam, they knew what they wanted, cheesecake.

Now cheesecakes do not normally lend themselves to being stacked, so to get round that problem we used an acrylic tiered cake stand to give the impression of a tiered cake.

Each tier consisted of a vanilla, fridge set cheesecake topped with mixed berries. We also supplied additional cutting cheesecakes so that all the guests were able to have a slice.

There is one thing that us bakers and cake makers/designers aren’t that keen on.

Hot weather 🥵

It messes with everything, how cakes behave, buttercream stability and our own sanity!

So on the hottest May Bank Holiday on record, we had not one, not two but three weddings.

But thanks to some early mornings, amazing team work and super flexible venues and events teams (one of which had the most amazing walk in fridge 🤩), all three cakes were delivered and set up without a hitch.

We will post full photos during the week but above is a sneak peek at the three cakes.

It’s world bee day 🐝

And as we’ve got some new followers, we thought today would be the perfect day for introduction to Little Bee Bakery.

Little Bee Bakery was set up 16years ago by me, Melissa. My name is Greek for little bee, so hence the name and my life long obsession with bees

We have been at our current location at Basepoint Romsey for 13 years. Our ethos from the beginning has been that that everything is baked from scratch, with proper ingredients. You won’t find any cake mixes or vanilla essence in our bakery!

We specialise in gluten free, dairy free and vegan baking. We have been doing this for over 14 years, and have developed recipes that work but also don’t taste any different to “full fat” cakes so everyone can enjoy them.

We opened our cafe The Hive three years ago. We are a 100% vegetarian cafe and, just like the bakery, we bake everything from scratch. We have an extensive gluten free and vegan menu and can cater for small parties, meetings. Our cafe is also used by local groups, businesses for meetings and classes.

As it is world bee day we have made honey cake muffins, with our own honeycomb on the top. Also in The Hive we have some extra special bee mugs hand thrown and glazed by one of our very own bees, Becky. As well as local honey, and of course bee bombs which you can used in your garden to create a little haven for bees.

Wedding season is in full swing and we are really looking forward to being part of so many couples big day.

This wedding cake from a couple of weeks ago was extra special, as Jasmin had asked us to make a surprise top tier for her husband. Elliot is a huge One Piece fan so we made Luffy's devil fruit out of cake just for him

Th lovely people at asked us to make a very special 30th birthday cake for one of their team this week.

Due to what James did, we were asked to make an access point with the birthday boy sitting on top of it, complete with laptop.

60th birthday cake for a lady who lovers her black lab more than anything else (according to her husband! 😁)

4 layers of lemon sponge, sandwiched with lemon buttercream and lemon curd. Covered in yellow ombré buttercream and topped with a model of her black lab in full birthday party mode 🎁🎉
