🌟 Wellbeing Wednesdays at Watford House 🌟

Every week, our residents enjoy a trip to Youth Matters to attend the wonderful Forget Me Not Café. It's always a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch, great company and plenty of conversation.

Following lunch, our Activities Lead, Matthew, delivers an engaging and interactive session designed to motivate, inspire and encourage social connection.

Residents enjoy meeting and chatting with people from the local community who independently attend the café, helping to build new friendships and strengthen existing connections.

Residents get an opportunity to play darts, games, quizzes, ball games, utilise the hall, stage and relaxing areas at each visit providing lots of variety and stimulation.

This opportunity provides meaningful opportunities for residents to remain active members of their community, reconnect with familiar faces and enjoy a real sense of purpose and belonging.

It's community engagement at its very best. which empowers our residents, promoting wellbeing and proving that meaningful connections can make all the difference. ❤️

Thank you Youth Matters New Mills CIC for everything you do for us!

Our residents spent the day strolling through the beautiful displays, taking in all the colours, textures and inspiration for our own summer gardening projects. The fish ponds were a real favourite too — everyone loved watching the stunning fish gliding peacefully through the water. 🐟💛

It sparked so many lovely conversations about how we can make our gardens even more vibrant and welcoming this summer. After all that exploring, we enjoyed a delicious lunch together — and it certainly went down a treat! 😋🥪

To finish off a perfect day, we made a stop at Costa Coffee for a well‑earned brew and a chance to relax and chat. ☕💕

Days like these truly matter. They bring people together, create shared experiences, support wellbeing and leave us with memories that last. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us — we’re already excited for our next adventure! 🌷✨

We’ve been getting seriously colourful at Watford House — and what an absolute blast it’s been! 🌈✨

Our residents rolled up their sleeves, embraced the mess and unleashed their creativity during our Pride tie‑dye session… and WOW, did they deliver!

From bold and brilliant t‑shirts to funky socks and vibrant tote bags, the room was overflowing with colour, laughter and imagination. 🎨🧦👕

There’s nothing better than watching everyone light up as their designs come to life — pure joy, pure expression, pure Pride.

Activities like this do more than brighten the room. They spark conversation, boost wellbeing, encourage self‑expression and bring our community even closer together.

We discussed the benefits, the empowering feeling of love and the impact it has on each and every one of us ❤️

And the best part? This is only the beginning! 👀 Stay tuned — the final fabulous creations are coming soon!

Sometimes Mother Nature does the best work of all. In our extensive gardens, nature has worked its magic, creating a beautiful country garden that is now buzzing with life and colour.

This natural haven has become the perfect place to attract bees and other important insects this summer, bringing beauty, a place to relax, reminisce and place residents can enjoy the environment

Sometimes the traditional games really are the best!

The parachute is an old favourite here at Watford House and it never fails to bring plenty of smiles, laughter and movement.
It’s a fantastic way to encourage gentle exercise, coordination and teamwork while also stimulating the mind through conversation, focus and shared fun.

A simple activity, but one that brings so much joy. 💛

We’ve been exploring our creative side through storytelling, memories, reminiscence, wildlife and the environment.

Residents were invited to paint a river and think about what we might find near the river or in the water. From there, the ideas began to flow and everyone helped tie the artwork together into one shared story.

We had ducks, fish and memories of collecting tadpoles as children. We spoke about fishing, sports on the river, the power of mills, the growth of the local economy and how rivers helped shape towns like New Mills.

It was a lovely session filled with colour, conversation and meaningful memories. A wonderful reminder of how creativity can open the door to stories, laughter and connection. 💙

We’ve been making the most of the beautiful weather by spending time out in our garden, enjoying the sunshine safely with lots of suncream, shade and refreshments.

It has been fantastic to see our residents relaxing outdoors, taking in the lovely views and enjoying the wonderful garden space we’re so lucky to have here at Watford House.

There really is nothing quite like fresh air, good company and an ice cream in the sunshine! 🌿💛

The Sett Valley Explorer Scouts have been absolute stars this week. They’ve been at Watford House late into the night transforming the garden — using donated plants from our amazing community and even bringing some from home.

Residents joined the Scouts to plant, tidy and brighten the space, and together they’ve created something truly special.

The garden is now ready to be enjoyed over the bank holiday weekend by residents and their families.

A huge thank you to the Scouts for their hard work, energy and kindness. You’ve made a real difference.

YEEHAW! What a rootin’-tootin’ evening we had at Watford House! 🐴⭐

Residents, families and staff all came together for a wild night in the Old West and what a fantastic turnout it was! From rounding up escaped cows across the prairie to helping recover stolen swag from a daring robbery heist, everybody got involved and the laughter never stopped! 🐄💰😂

Our residents became true cowboys and cowgirls for the night as they worked together, solved clues, protected the loot and helped get the treasure safely back onto the horses. The competitive spirit, teamwork and smiles around the room were simply wonderful to see.

The amazing Leslie also put together a fantastic Wild West spread for everybody to enjoy, helping create that real saloon atmosphere and keeping all our cowboys and cowgirls well fed for the adventure ahead! 🌵🍔🌭

These family fun nights are about so much more than entertainment. They help strengthen relationships, encourage confidence, spark conversation and create meaningful shared memories between loved ones. Activities like this support emotional wellbeing, social connection, physical movement and most importantly bring joy and purpose to everyday life. ❤️

A huge thank you to all the families who came along and made the evening so special. The support, laughter and togetherness in the room truly showed what community is all about.

We think it’s safe to say… the Wild West came to Watford House! 🤠🌵✨
