I had to do another post (which I’m sure I’ll get into trouble for!!) but New Mills has its own hero’s in the town…..as you may know the Potts and Ryan family have both had to stare cancer in the eye in recent years and both Ian and Barbara got to ring the end of treatment bell at The Christie Hospital and are both thankfully doing well. Facing these experiences together gave us all the strength to get through and I will be forever grateful for the support we received. Michelle Ryan is an absolute hero….she runs marathons for charity to give back to help others while facing all sorts of challenges and pushes through it all. Last November we managed to pull off our crazy plan of a music night in aid of The Christie Charity and had the delights of support from local people in Impromptu choir and The Peak Pluckers who were all heroes that night helping us raise around £2500 which was unbelievable. The term Hero means something different to us all…it could be a family member, a friend, a stranger or even ourselves but we can all make a difference by being kind and helping others and in doing that we are heroes together. For me all those working at The Christie Hospital were heroes, as was the GP who caught my dads cancer in time and the consultant at Stepping Hill all who I will be eternally grateful for 🧡 So remember we all can and do make a difference in the world 🧡
