At the Mill Kitchen we love food: its power to change your mood from bad to great; its ability to comfort, to energise and heal you; its role in the community; we love supporting farmers and tradespeople who make food in traditional thoughtful ways; and we love knowing what's in our food won't do too much harm to our environment - but most of all, we love eating it! We all have to eat, after all, so why not make it something delicious?

🥒 It’s going to be a hot one this bank holiday weekend, and we’ve got a new drinks special perfect for the weather! Our cucumber cooler with Matcha cold foam is super light and refreshing! Pssst the cold foam is vegan too!

🍵 So why not sip on one whilst catching some shade al fresco under our parasols! Sounds like a bank holiday win to us!

🐟 LIMITED EDITION SPECIAL 🐟

🍀 We were lucky enough to get our hands on a side of Hot Smoked Salmon (their regular cold smoked is a staple on our brunch menu!). So whilst stocks last, we have this Hot Smoked Salmon, lemon cream cheese, cucumber, capers & dill on sourdough toast!

🤝 Bread baked fresh in our bakery, Salmon smoked by Farsley Fire & Smoke….. a real colab 😎

🤩 WHAT. A. WEEK. 🤩

🙏🏼 We’ve just closed the doors on what’s been our busiest EVER week 😮‍💨. Threads , our coffee cart out all weekend, catering for the Dyevolution launch party at the Sunny Bank Mills Archive, a private party for an amazing 21st, and of course our “bread & butter” of coffee, pastries, breakfast & brunch!

🎉 Within all that mix, we celebrated the work anniversaries of two of our longest standing team members! Our awesome GM Lorna who has been with us 4 years, and one of our amazing senior kitchen team James, who’s just 1 year behind that! You will have defo seen (or heard!) these guys if you’ve been to the cafe as they form part of the backbone of our unbelievably hard working team! Absolutely instrumental in delivering a week like this, and our day to day of course! We COULD NOT do it without them!

☀️ So at the end of a week of proper graft, a post of huge gratitude to all - our fantastic customers who keep us busy and smiling day in, day out! Our super hard working team who absolutely worked their socks off and, genuinely, did not moan once about it, and lastly to our Eurovision entry for giving us all a laugh 🙏🏼✌🏼🙏🏼✌🏼🙏🏼✌🏼

🤓 COFFEE LOVERS READ ON ☕️

🧐 We take our coffee seriously here don’t ya know! Today we made 188 coffees, and at least half of those espresso shots will have passed through this very portafiler! A good clean down at the end of every day ensures not only a top quality, consistent coffee shot, but if not completed daily, a bitter espresso can result and nobody wants that!

⭐️ The team keep us on track with all this stuff. In fact, they were on site as we closed down today to dial in our brand new grinder! There’s some talk of an evening brewing masterclass hosted by us, led by them…..would anyone be keen??

🥐 FRIDAY PASTRIES 🥐

🙌🏼 If you’ve never visited us on a Friday, it’s a great day to come as our bakers go big on all things pastry!! You can get our signature croissant cubes, swirls, twists, knots, buns and now, eclairs!!

😃 We change it up with toppings and flavours each week, but our Friday bakery counter is guaranteed to be brimming full of all sorts of goodness, but come early to avoid disappointment. Our usual croissants, pain au chocs and Danish will of course be in there too 🙏🏼🙌🏼

🌱 COELIAC AWARENESS MONTH 🌱

🤝 May is all about raising awareness of coeliac disease - this affects approximately 1 in 100 people in the UK, and can make popping out for even just a straightforward coffee & cake tricky.

😃 Our menu is carefully considered to be as accessible as possible for most dietary requirements. We serve some dishes like our signature pancakes, hash & granola gluten free as standard, with almost every other dish able to be amended with some GF swaps available! Our bakery use GF flour in our cakes & bakes where possible, so there’s always some sweet GF options in the counter too (heads up have you tried the new warm banana bread with mascarpone?!)…

💭 Moreover, our team also know what’s what with all things GF, and will be happy to help with any questions or concerns when you visit.

🤗 Today was the last day for a while for Mill Kitchen OG, first class barista and all round good egg , as she’s off on mat leave!

😢 We’re all going to miss her hugely, but wish her bucket loads of love & happiness (and luck!) for this next chapter! Fear not, she will be back before you know it, and she’s also promised to drop off plenty of stock to keep us going with her amazing handmade jewellery!

☀️ If you haven’t spent a bit of time in the Weavers yard on a day like today, then what are you playing at! It’s a beautiful space, and even has a new art installation 👀

🤞🏼We’re hoping for some sun this bank holiday weekend ahead of the Yard Party….in this very yard. But if the sun doesn’t shine, don’t let that put you off a visit….there’s some absolutely amazing independent businesses spread throughout the mill….and all of these are defo worth a visit for your food & drink needs whilst here 😃
