Cutting the wedding cake is still a thing!!!

In modern times cutting the cake symbolises mutual support for one another, and is the first cooperative duty as a married couple.

Feeding each other cake represents an ongoing commitment to care for one another.

I actually LOVE this. It’s totally gorgeous. Why would@you not want to be on board with this tradition!

I’m delighted to know it’s moved on from ancient Roman times though, where the groom would break bread over his new wife’s head, signifying good fortune and the transfer of authority to the husband!!! 😆

Did you know that’s where this tradition originated?! I didn’t!!!!

Congratulations to Hannah and Rob who married yesterday at Holmes Mill.

As autumn rolls around their wedding colour scheme was the perfect transition through seasons. We incorporated soft peach and olive green with beautiful autumnal burnt orange into the design of their wedding cake.

The first two photographs were taken at home before I added the gorgeous flowers from HEF. SWIPE to see the finished cake in situ against the gorgeous red brick wall.

I’ve been working on something behind the scenes that I REALLY want to invest some time in.

It means I’ve had to close my cake diary for the rest of 2026.

I have some incredible cakes to create and I’m super excited, I just want to free up some time for something else!

Anyone else???

Mums out there, tell me I’m not the only one that just about survived the summer holidays while trying to run and build a business!

I was inundated with beautiful photos of people having gorgeous family time. I’m not going to lie, for the first time ever I compared my summer to everyone else’s golden moments.

I’m here telling you there was no thriving in this house over the summer, we barely survived. I took my parenting to new lows, called the kids names I usually save for my husband and I’ve lost more hair than I care to admit.

I’ve questioned everything. Yet here I am on day 1 of back to school and I feel the cortisol dissipating from every cell in my body.

While I work out what needs to change next year, because although I’ve considered it, giving away my kids isn’t really a feasible option, I’m just putting it out there that any pride I felt for the business I’ve built was completely decimated by my inability to parent like a mature adult at the same time.

Anyway, here we are trying to fix both the neglect I administered to my business and the relationships I hampered with my family.

Bottoms up. Chin chin!

Anyone else? Please tell me I’m not the only one?!

- Colombian espresso and walnut.
- Lemon and raspberry
- Chocolate

Congratulations to Yasmin and Harveer who married yesterday at Merrydale Manor.

I cannot even tell you how heavy this cake was. Carrying it after my first day back in the gym in a year was not the one!!! 🤣

Wafer paper ruffles to the bottom tier, filled with a pina colada flavoured cake, a personalised monogram to match the rest of their wedding for the chocolate filled middle layer and some wafer paper and pearls suited the vanilla and raspberry cake on top.

Congratulations to both of you.
