Update 19 April 2026

Aerodyne would like to provide a further update regarding the ongoing investigation into the incident in the United Kingdom.

The investigation, led by British Skydiving, remains ongoing, and at this stage, no conclusions have been reached regarding the cause of the incident or the equipment's performance.

We continue to support the process and are working in cooperation with all relevant authorities. Investigations of this nature are complex and may take time, and early-stage information may be incomplete or subject to change.

๐Ÿ”น AAD Cutter Placement โ€“ Configuration Update
As previously communicated in Technical Bulletin TB-250122 (2022), Aerodyne identified AAD cutter placement as a configuration consideration based on internal testing and issued a recommendation for certain configurations.

In line with ongoing product evaluation and to promote global consistency in configuration, Aerodyne will now be formalizing this existing recommendation as a mandatory configuration requirement. A separate communication will be issued outlining the implementation details.

Both cutter positions have been tested and approved, and the system has been in service for many years with successful reserve activations in operational conditions.

This step reflects a standardization of configuration, and not the result of any findings from the current investigation.

๐Ÿ”น Our Commitment
Aerodyne remains fully dedicated to supporting the investigation process, upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance, and providing clear, accurate updates as new information emerges.

We recognize the level of discussion within the skydiving community and appreciate the shared focus on safety. We encourage reliance on verified information from official sources as the investigation progresses.

Further updates will be provided as appropriate.

Lines Lines... Lines

When do I need to change my lines?
Can I get one hundred more jumps from them?

After attending this yearโ€™s PIA Symposium ParaTeknics would like to bring you a new thought about how to evaluate your lines. Consider this option, a correlation between exit weight and lines having a positive outlook to forecasting your canopies line life.

This is a great approach to line wear estimation! It moves away from arbitrary jump counts and introduces real-world factors like exit weight, line strength, removable sliders, and environmental conditions.

Key Takeaways:

Exit Weight Matters, Higher weight = more stress on lines = shorter lifespan.
Line Strength (Load Rating), stronger lines last longer under the same conditions.
Removable Sliders (R/S) can reduce line life by ~15%.
Dirt and Dust can shorten line life by ~20%.

THE NEW FORMULA:

LINE STRENGTH - JUMPER EXIT WEIGHT = EXPECTED JUMPS

VECTRAN 750 โ€“ 210 POUNDS = 540 JUMPS

(VECTRAN 500 โ€“ 200 POUNDS = 300 JUMPS) R/S -45 = 255 JUMPS

(VECTRAN 400 โ€“ 225 POUNDS = 175 JUMPS), DIRT AND DUST -35 JUMPS, R/S -26 JUMPS = 114 JUMPS

Teaming this new equation with the visual condition can provide you with a better estimate of the condition of your lines.

Attention Fluidwings owners.

Yes, we are preforming the mandatory inspection to your canopy lines if you would like to have them examined by a rigger.

If you are the owner of a product lined with Vectran 400 and would like to have your lines examined by a rigger we can accommodate that aswell.
