Do you know how much care it takes to see turkey poults through the brood period?

My dad and uncle set their first flock of turkeys in 1952 It’s been a long learning journey and never ends

The intense brood period is the first 10-14 days after we place poults. They need to be checked every 3-4 hours for this time If anything causes them stress, they pile on each other and smother Stressors include temperature, humidity and air pressure, lack of access to water and feed, sudden darkness, illness, loud noises, vibration and overcrowding

🍁Late Summer Days Autumn is Coming 🍂

Yesterday saw the last of washing the charcoal lot of wool I washed 60 skeins in 3 batches. The third batch didn’t dry before the damp night air so in it came
Today I took the plunge and put 50 skeins in my tub and washed all in 1 batch. It’s all hanging in a warm stiff breeze all day so hopefully it will be dry by nightfall
