Você sabia (A história do brigadeiro)

Did you know?

Brigadeiro was created in Brazil in the 1940s.

During Eduardo Gomes’s presidential campaign, who held the rank of brigadier in the Brazilian Air Force, his supporters sold a sweet made with condensed milk, chocolate, and butter to raise funds.

It became known as “the Brigadier’s sweet” and, over time, simply brigadeiro.

Eduardo Gomes didn’t win the election, but the sweet won over Brazil and became one of the greatest symbols of Brazilian confectionery.
