Well, today's bake day had a little bit of everything.

The mixer was acting up, the circuit breaker kept tripping, the kitchen lost power, and while I was trying to figure all of that out... the peanut butter cookies sacrificed themselves for the cause. 🔥🍪

Thankfully the bread survived, the mixer survived, and so did my sanity (mostly).

Please tell me I'm not the only baker who's done this. 👇

One of my sourdough students surprised me with a loaf of bread today. ❤️

It may seem like a small thing, but seeing students take what they've learned and create beautiful bread of their own is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

Thank you for thinking of me. It absolutely made my day.

Some loaves are quiet. Some loaves demand attention. 💜

This ube sourdough definitely falls into the second category.

Between the color, the flavor, and that gorgeous dough, it's impossible not to smile while shaping it. Every loaf has its own personality, but this one always steals the show.

Have you tried Ube before?

I finally got a bread slicer and I have to admit... I should have checked the thickness setting before making that first cut. 😂

My cheddar jalapeño sourdough became an accidental tasting sample, but after a quick adjustment the slices came out perfect.

A few things I already love:
✔️ Doesn't slide around on the counter
✔️ Adjustable thickness settings
✔️ Measurements in both inches and centimeters
✔️ Consistent slices every time

If you've ever tried slicing a fresh loaf and ended up with one giant slice and one paper-thin slice, you know why I'm excited about this.

What's your preference: thick bakery-style slices or thinner sandwich slices?

Ever wonder why your sourdough behaves completely differently from one week to the next… even when you follow the same recipe? 👀

The weather plays a HUGE role in sourdough fermentation.

☀️ Warm weather speeds everything up
❄️ Cold weather slows fermentation down
💧 Humidity can make dough feel sticky and harder to handle

One of the biggest lessons in sourdough baking is learning to watch your dough instead of strictly watching the clock. Your kitchen environment changes constantly, and your starter reacts to all of it.

I just wrote a new blog breaking down:
• Why fermentation changes with the seasons
• How to adjust during summer vs winter
• Why humidity affects your dough
• Signs your dough is actually ready

I also linked some of my favorite sourdough tools and baking supplies that help me throughout the year 🥖

If you’ve ever followed the exact same sourdough recipe twice and ended up with completely different results, you’re not imagining things. One of the biggest variables in sourdough baking isn’t the flour, the starter, or even the recipe itself, it’s the weather.Sourdough is alive. Your start...

Homemade vanilla extract is one of those things that feels intimidating until you realize how simple it actually is 🤎

Just vanilla beans, alcohol, time… and patience. The flavor gets richer and darker every month and honestly, store bought just doesn’t compare anymore.

Some days just feel special in a way you can’t plan for ☀️🌧️

We showed up to the market this morning with over 300 sourdough items, pouring rain, and fingers crossed. A few hours later the cloudscleared, the sun came out, and we completely sold out.

But the best part of my day wasn’t the sellout.

One of my sweetest customers came back with her family, and their daughter Haven handed me the most thoughtful handmade gift, a littlecroissant made out of pipe cleaners because I’m “their favorite baker.” 🥹

Thank you for supporting this little dream of mine week after week. Today was really special 🤍

Every time I mix starter into the ube milk, it looks a little questionable for a minute, but somehow it turns into one of my favorite loaves every single time.

Soft, slightly sweet, and that beautiful purple crumb makes it worth trusting the process ✨

Who else has recipes that look absolutely unhinged before they come together?
