Marketing matters!

I wanted to share a little reminder about something that is SO important when you’re running a small business: marketing isn’t just posting pictures… it’s part of the business.

As a small, local bakery, I don’t have a huge storefront, a billboard, or a massive advertising budget. Social media is one of the biggest ways I get my business in front of people.

And the numbers speak for themselves.

That means the cakes I make, the products I bake, the behind-the-scenes moments, the menus, the announcements and the content I take the time to post are actually reaching people and creating value for my business.

Marketing isn’t always an immediate sale.

Sometimes someone sees your post today, follows you tomorrow, recommends you to a friend next week, and places an order three months from now.

That’s still marketing. ❤️

For small businesses, visibility = opportunity.

If people don’t know you exist, they can’t support you. If they don’t see what you offer, they don’t know what to order. And if they don’t hear from you, they may forget about you.

Marketing isn’t a waste of time. It’s an investment in my business.

And to everyone who likes, comments, shares, tags friends, recommends Wake & Bake, or simply stops to look at one of my posts…

Who’s kids are obsessed with dumplings?! Show them this cake and let me know what they think!

Seriously though, how cute is it? 🥹

This is a red velvet cake with homemade vanilla buttercream, a thin fondant layer over the dome sprayed with pink edible spray & an edible glitter spray to get that sparkly look similar to a dumpling squishy!

Once I showed my kids last night, their faces lit up and one even asked if he could have it for his birthday (which is in July 2027 😂)

I hope the birthday girl loves her cake! It was such a fun challenge 💖

In honor of September being my birthday month, I want to make my favorite cake… Chocolate Strawberry 😍

This month, Wake & Bake is honored to support the Wabash Woman’s Clubhouse!

For over 130 years, this beautiful historic building has been an important part of our community—first as an orphanage, then Wabash’s first hospital, and today as a place where people of all ages can connect, learn, and participate in meaningful programs and events.

Here is a brief message from the Vice President of The Woman’s Clubhouse Association:

“The Woman’s Clubhouse is a not-for-profit in the heart of the city of Wabash. Moving forward, our dedication is to revitalize and preserve the building, by fundraising, sponsorships, memberships, and grants.

We’re trying to raise awareness by doing all of the above!
With community support, we hope to achieve many more projects of interior and exterior maintenance and beautification to the property!

As you may notice, I’ve deleted the posts regarding the situation that took place on Friday.

I do not want to welcome anymore negativity on my business page. I started this business to share what makes me happy and make a positive impact along the way.

With that said, I want us all to be the bigger people and leave the situation alone. I don’t want anyone messaging the woman involved or harassing her. Karma will do her thing.

Another note, I am going to have updated terms & conditions posted on the top of my page and in multiple areas of my bakery stand. The main thing that will be addressed is that your items must be paid for before leaving the property. No excuses. If you do not have the money, put your items back. I do not care if you’ve spent hundreds of dollars supporting my business. Not paying before leaving is unacceptable.

Lastly, I really wished everyone would be more considerate about people’s mental health. Just like 99% of the population, I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression. Not as much now as I used too… but it was a very low point in my life. I’ve put in a lot of work in myself to work through those challenges and to become a better person overall. I still struggle here and there just like everyone else.

What you say matters. The person you choose to be every single day matters. You wake up and make a conscious choice to make good decisions or bad decisions. You can choose to either be kind or disrespectful. You can choose to be miserable or make changes to make life worth living.

Please just choose to be kind. It’s really not that hard.

Thank you for everyone who had my back. I truly appreciate it. I’m so drained, and I don’t want to even think about it anymore. So let’s all just leave it be. 💛
