If a fudgy brownie and your favorite childhood cereal had a delicious little rebellion, this would be the result.

Rich, chocolatey brownies topped with a buttery, crunchy cornflake layer that brings the perfect sweet-and-salty bite. Soft, chewy, crispy, gooey... basically all the textures showed up to the party.

I've decided that each week I'm going to dust off one of my cookbooks, pick a recipe, and bring it to the City of Villa Rica Market at the Mill on Thursday. There are far too many beautiful cookbooks sitting on my shelves with pages waiting to be butter-stained and covered in flour. It seems only fair that we fix that.💙

This week's pick comes from one of my favorite cookbooks, Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon.

I don't have a long list of favorite actresses, but Reese has always been near the top. There's something I admire about the way she carries herself: delicate but strong, kind but honest, sweet without being a pushover. The South could use a few more women like that... and probably a few more cookies, too.

So this week's special will be inspired by a recipe from "Whiskey in a Teacup". Come by the market on Thursday and give it a try. If all goes according to plan, this will be the first of many cookbook adventures.

Collecting cookbooks and never baking from them is a hobby while actually using them is character development. 🤍
