The cheapest pest control I've ever built cost me $7 and lasts forever. 🐸

It's called a frog hotel. And every night, a single tree frog inside
it eats up to 100 garden insects — for free.

Here's what you need:

A terracotta pot (turned on its side)
3-4 PVC pipes of different sizes (the tunnels)
A handful of smooth rocks (landing pads)
A thin layer of water inside (moisture, not a pond)
A shrub or wall for shade nearby

Build it once. Maintain it once a month. That's it.

The result? Tree frogs, toads, and spring peepers move in within
weeks — each one quietly hunting hundreds of mosquitoes, slugs,
beetles, and aphids every single night.

Most gardeners spend hundreds on sprays and traps. The smartest ones
just give the frogs a place to live.

Sometimes the best garden helpers are the quietest ones.

A toad is not an enemy that appeared by accident — it is part of a balanced ecosystem shaped over many years.

Healthy toad populations depend on suitable habitats such as clean or relatively unpolluted water sources, damp shelter, natural vegetation, and low levels of harmful chemical contamination. When these environments are protected, toads can thrive and contribute to ecosystem stability.

Toads feed on many insects and other small invertebrates, helping naturally regulate some animal populations as part of a larger food web. They also serve as prey for birds, reptiles, mammals, and other wildlife.

When ponds are removed, gardens are completely paved over, or pesticides are heavily used, amphibian habitats can decline. Chemical pollutants may directly harm toads, reduce their food sources, and disrupt soil and water quality. Habitat loss and pollution are among the major causes of amphibian decline worldwide.

Protecting ponds, native vegetation, moist shelter, and healthy soil helps support toads and many other species that contribute to a functioning ecosystem.
