Did you know 1 in 35 that are bit by a mosquito gets West Niles Virus? Did you also know that less than 1% of those who got West Niles turns into Meningitis making your health very critical? Well..

Our Monkey became that 1 and 1% very quickly🥺

Today we got out of bed!!!! Unfortunately I was unable to stay with her last night, but one of her grandparents stayed with her 🥰 I brought her her favorite cookies, but before she really got to eat them, sissy accidentally knocked them on the floor 🥺

The 48hr cultures came back really late, but we are feeling more confident with answers. The meningitis cultures show no growth, but the spinal tap did test positive for Meningitis. It will take up to 3 weeks for the mosquito testing to come back, but the time line, symptoms, tests, and reactions to medication is strongly pointing to West Niles Meningitis.

Because of that, they are treating her for it before the results, otherwise she could become even sicker. Which I don't quite know could've been possible. Wednesday was that scary.. without saying the exact words..

But today, our baby is laughing. She walked about 20 steps on her own. She used the little tikes truck to get to the play room with the assistance of daddy. She may have only played for less than 5 minutes in there, but she was relieved to see more than the 4 walls she's seen for days.

Yesterday, they did extend her stay until Monday as of right now based on her medication needs and progress, as we are still working on strength. I'm incredibly proud of her fight and growth🩷

🩷UPDATE + Story time🩷

Our Monkey woke up to a rash on Saturday and through the weekend it progressed. Monday was it's "peak" before it begun going down. I reached out to her Peds through their messaging and they felt it was a viral rash and wanted to evaluate her. Unfortunately they didn't have an opening until today (Wednesday). She has ran a fever up to 102* We got her in for 9:20am, her throat appeared a little red so we did a strep- just incase.

This morning at her appointment, her temp was 99.3* acting semi-normal minus a little more tired. She has complained of a headache (first time) and leg pain yesterday. We went for smoothies afterwards for a "pick-me-up" and went home. She was ready to lay down, so we went for cuddles.

Within the hour, she was vomiting and blank staring straight. She wasn't responding to me talking to her, snapping my fingers, or able to hold her body up. Her breathing became labored and hard to stay awake. My phone finally had enough of a charge, so I quickly called 911. The whole first responders got to our house as soon as they could and quickly transferred her to the Ambulance for the Hospital.

Once we arrived, they had what felt like 20 doctors and nurses in her ER room, attending to her. They quickly assessed her and intubated/sedated her. I signed any forms I needed for her to get the care she needed and waited for what felt like a life time.

We are finally starting to get some answers, but not all the answers. Before being told any updates, we read the results of tests in her MyChart. Just by looking at a few, her body was clearly fighting a huge infection.

As of right now, its been confirmed that she has meningitis, but unsure if it is viral or bacterial. It is suspected that she had a feveral seizure when I made the 911 call. Tomorrow is supposed to be a big and busy day. We should get a lot more results back.

I am beyond thankful for the village we have from pur family, friends, and of course you guys 🩷 I promise I'm reading all your comments when I can and we appreciate every single one 🩷 I am strongly thankful and appreciate her care team from the 911 call and through the whole process. Everyone has been so helpful and reassuring through all of this 🩷

This isn't the post I'd make, but im left so lost. I need all the prayers for our baby right now. She is barely alert and only responding to touch. We are currently in the hospital getting all the testing done.

I just need all the prayers we can get for her 😭💔
