For tonight's social ride, we'll meet at Schenectady City Hall at 6 p.m. before riding to the Empire State Trail entrance on the SUNY Schenectady (SCCC) loop. From there, we'll ride west approximately 5 miles to Kiwanis Park and The Hungry Chicken Country Store. The store normally closes by 4 p.m. but will reopen just for us so we can enjoy ice cream, cold drinks, and home-baked goods. Helmets required, and kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. About 12 miles total.

Well, it’s been a day.

The walk‑in cooler quit, the Wi‑Fi gave up, and thankfully Northeast Refrigeration and Pattersonville Phone Company got us back on track. We are very grateful for the support of these small, local businesses.

And because it’s Friday, we baked: among other things, we made Amaretto Brownies (rich, fudgy, amaretto‑kissed) and Chocolate Éclair Mini Cakes (soft, custardy, chocolate‑topped). A sweet ending to the chaos.

We’re open our regular hours today (7-4) Stop in for a made-to-order breakfast sandwich, fresh‑baked favorites, festive Flag Pies, Strawberry Shortcake Minis, and a cold Dygert’s Lemonade to toast the start of summer.

Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful Memorial Day as we honor those who served.
