there are some things bake-ism will always show up for, and You Night Empowering Events is one of themšš½
some of you who have been around for a while probably remember that my mom was part of You Nightās Class of 2025, and I donāt think I could ever fully explain what this program gave to the both of us.
she walked away with an irreplaceable sisterhood and somehow along the way, i ended up with a slue of incredibly strong women to look up to almost like bonus moms that all adore meš
this weekend was the Class of 2026 photoshoot- a day that is so much bigger than getting dressed up and taking pretty pictures. for so many of these women, cancer has changed the way they see themselves entirely. this is a day where they get to feel beautiful, feminine, human and like themselves again. for some, it may be the first time theyāve seen themselves that way since their diagnosis.
obviously, a day like that needed lots of goodiesāØ
taking a step back from orders never meant taking a step back from the parts of bake-ism that mattered most to me. so my mama showed up with three boxes filled with over a hundred ooey gooey cookies and seventy something brown butter rice krispy pops!! enough for every woman AND all of the people volunteering their time to make this day special for them.
my mom may be an alum now, but I feel incredibly lucky that we still get to be involved. sheās taken on leadership roles in the program and was even a story crafting coach this year, with her own group of women to mentor. seeing her be who she needed when she was going through this, to other women is so tenderly beautiful to watch.
as for me, iāll continue being a vip sponsor so i can get my wristbands and good seats to watch this yearās class šš
