Throwback to one of my earlier dinosaur cakes. 🦖

Looking back through old cake photos is always a little funny.

At the time, I was so proud of this cake—and honestly, I still am.

But it also reminds me how much I've learned, practiced, and grown over the years.

Every cake has taught me something.

A new technique.

A new design.

A better way to do something.

That's one of the things I love most about cake decorating—there's always something new to learn.

Fun fact:

Most custom cakes aren't actually made in a single day.

There's baking.

Filling.

Stacking.

Chilling.

Decorating.

And sometimes waiting for one step to be finished before the next can begin.

What starts as a stack of cake layers and buttercream slowly becomes a finished cake designed specifically for one celebration.

One of my favorite parts of cake decorating is watching the transformation happen.

One of the hardest parts of running a custom cake business is having to say no.

Not because I don't want to make the cake.

Not because I don't appreciate the inquiry.

But because my calendar is already full.

As a one-person business, I only take on a certain number of orders each week so I can give every cake the time and attention it deserves.

If you have a birthday, graduation, baby shower, wedding, or special event coming up, reaching out early gives you the best chance of securing your date.

I never want to tell someone, "I wish you had contacted me sooner."
