# Meet the Baker

Hi, I'm Crystal, the owner and baker behind Salty Dough Bread Company.

I was raised in Flagler Beach, Florida, and have spent all 46 years of my life enjoying the beautiful coastline that I still call home today. The beach has always been a part of who I am—the salt air, the ocean breeze, and the slower pace of coastal living have shaped both my lifestyle and the heart of this business. If there's one thing to know about me, it's that I'm a beach girl through and through.

Before starting Salty Dough Bread Company, I spent many years working in the medical field. While I found fulfillment in caring for others, I began feeling drawn toward a different path—one centered around family, intentional living, and a more natural approach to the foods we eat every day.

My sourdough journey began with a simple desire to provide healthier, less processed foods for myself and my family. I became fascinated by traditional baking methods, natural fermentation, and the idea that some of the best foods are made with only a few simple ingredients. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion.

As I learned more about sourdough and clean ingredients, I found myself embracing a more natural lifestyle overall. I wanted to slow down, reconnect with traditional food practices, and create products that I felt good about sharing with the people I love. And so Salty Dough Bread Company was born.

Today, every loaf, cookie, and baked good is made by hand in small batches using all-natural ingredients, traditional techniques, and plenty of patience. My goal is simple: create delicious food that brings people together while staying true to the values that inspired this journey in the first place.

The name Salty Dough reflects two things I love most—the coastal life that raised me and the craft of sourdough baking that has become such an important part of my life.

From Migraine Disaster to Sourdough Masterpiece! 🍞✨Yesterday, a massive migraine completely derailed my baking plans, leaving my dough to accidentally ferment on the counter for a whopping 15 hours! I was sure it was ruined.Instead of tossing it, I trusted my gut, mixed in some honey, butter, and salt, and hoped for a miracle. By the grace of God, look at this crumb! 😍 It came out incredibly soft and pillowy with the perfect balance of sourdough tang and sweet honey-butter goodness. Finished with a little flaky sea salt. This loaf definitely won't last long! 🤤
