Remember this cake. I sent it to a friend in the Philippines. Took 2 weeks to get to the Philippines and then 2 months to get to the address. Surprisingly it arrived in one piece with just a little damage and the bottom border broken off. They were so surprised and happy to get it and had a slice right away.

Wishing my cousin Anita and Chris a happy 35th Wedding anniversary today. 9-3-1988. This is their cake I made them. 3 tiers of English fruit cake, marzipan and covered in royal icing. Love the little silver horseshoes and bells. Can't get those cake decorations any more.

Meat pasty redo. This is how I remember them from Smiths Bakery in my home town of Aldeburgh with the zigzag crimp across the top. I much prefer them like this. This is how I’ll be doing mine. No need for the heavy side crimp, we’re not mining for tin anymore. 6” pasty.

It's time for me to start planning for baking and making 2023 Christmas cakes. With family visiting for November I plan to have all the cakes baked in October SO I am taking order now through Oct 15th to be able to get them baked before family arrives. Brownies. I always considered them an American dessert but I often see them on UK afternoon tea trays now. Do you like brownies served for AFT? When I worked at the local Davis bakery people would come for miles around for his brownies. We'd ice them like this. Here's mine. Iced and not.

I'm back. Just had a lovely 2 weeks with my cousin Anita and Chris visiting us. Did a little baking for fresh bread rolls, that's about it. Now it's time to tie the apron strings and make some dough!! LOL. I will be doing afternoon tea boxes for Friday pick up (sandwiches will still be good for Saturday's coronation) $45 for a box serving 2 people. Message me to put your order in. Hope everyone saved at least one hot cross bun for today. Thank you for all the orders. I could not have done it without the help of my daughter Tamara and daughter in law Mary, who are both now expert hot cross bun makers!! Between us we hand rolled almost 8,000 buns. Hope everyone enjoyed them and perhaps it bought a little happy memory forward for you to reminisce.
