Thankful for a lot this year, including all of you - our regulars, people coming into our shops from near & far for the first time, our staff who work hard every single day, the furry friends who join their hoomans (and sometimes get a bite!), the artists who make our shops come alive - and so much more.

Happy 6 years to our 2nd Avenue location! 🎉🎉🎉
We initially opened our doors here on November 15th, and after some minor issues (ya know, like the entire building losing electricity and having to dig through our shop from sidewalk 😩), we reopened once again for good after the new year.
We couldn't have gotten here without all of you and our incredible staff! Lots to be thankful for. 🧡🧡

The Mickey Rivers, aka John Milton "Mickey" Rivers, is named after the iconic baseball player of the same name who played for the California Angels, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers from 1970 to 1984. When he was with the Yankees, he was part of two World Series championships (1977 & 1978), both against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Owner Chris Pugliese is a lifetime Yankees fan, and this Mets fan who lived in the East Village would come into the shop, and they’d always have friendly arguments about their teams and rip each other old NY-style. One time Chris bought a bunch of old Yankees cards and put them in his bag. 😂🔥
This specialty sandwich is layered with grilled chicken, roasted tomato, broccoli rabe, and pesto dressing.

Today is a very special day! And no, it’s not because it’s a Friday or because it’s the weekend of (although definitely 2 great reasons!). It’s owner Chris Pugliese’s birthday!!
If you’ve ever had any contact with Chris, you know first-hand what a caring, down to earth, hardworking person he is, and it’s no different at the shops. He pays attention to every detail, making sure anyone coming through the door gets the true TSB experience - to feel like it’s their home away from home, to be treated kindly by staff, and to enjoy a bagel sandwich like no other.
And this is also true for the staff, creating a positive work environment where people feel appreciated for the hard work they’re doing each and every day to make the shops run smoothly. It’s a true team effort.

The Garrett Jones is named after a former employee of the shops and one of the greatest managers of all time. Garrett started working at Avenue A when he was around 15 years old and stayed for eight years, helping us open the 2nd Avenue location. Owner, Chris Pugliese, mentored him and showed him all aspects of the business. He later moved to Michigan, and we've missed him ever since! We’ve always been fortunate to have incredible managers. 🙏
This specialty breakfast sandwich is layered with egg whites, chicken sausage, onion, and spinach, and decided to add cheese. Great call!

Owner Chris Pugliese’s daughter, Stella, can be seen at the shop from time to time checking out the process, hanging with the staff, and of course, eating some delicious bagels! What’s her favorite bagel? The French toast bagel with butter & maple syrup! BUT, she also looooves the cookies. 🍪🍪
